ESPN+ and basketball

I just saw the 2019 TCU basketball schedule. They are showing 6 conference games on ESPN+ including the KSU game on Feb.15. Has KSU released their schedule yet? Surprising to me is that none of their non-conference games were slated for the streaming service.

Well this is dumb/frustrating.
I pay for TV service, so I can watch games and stuff.
Now I have to pay to watch games on the internet as well (or miss a bunch).

So this will actually probably help me in cutting the cord to cable. Just need to do it at this point. Buy the youtube or whatever internet package and move on.

you can buy and link to espn plus on your computer or cell phone. or you can use various devices to link to your non-smart tv. or you can buy a smart tv.

I would encourage anybody not happy with them being solely on ESPN+ to contact Gene. He responded back to my concerns very quickly. Not sure if it makes any difference, but I hope he realizes a good chunk of KSU fans are not happy about being unable to watch the games... particularly the rural fans who don't have access to high-speed internet. Linking from your phone is a pain and unreliable, but will be the only option for me.

ESPN is in the drivers seat and under pressure. People are dropping cable so ESPN needs a way to get viewership. They have lost millions of subscribers and billions in revenue over the last couple years. Plus the schools put on the broadcast which saves ESPN money too.

It will be interesting to see what happens with future TV contracts. College football viewership is down and ESPN can’t continue with the contracts like they have in the past. Will there be enough money to continue to support the endlessly growing sports budgets? I suppose it will depend on your fan base and how many subscribe to your ESPN+ account.

They rolled out ESPN+ Successfully in many of the non-football leagues. Makes business sense to see it expand to the football leagues too.

I suspect in the future we will get a handful teams that draw national attention on TV for free. The rest will be streaming pay as you go. That looks like the trend anyway.
