I have always thought that Dean's shooting was his biggest asset to make it at the next level. Putting the ball in the hoop is the name of the game. At 6-10 and a high release his jump shot is not easy to defend. After a few years in the league he could be one of the best shooting big men. I was surprised he did not mention other aspects of Dean's game and his over all play. One thing I did notice is that Dean seemed a bit slow, a step behind on D. I had never noticed this in college so hopefully its just an adjustment thing. He seems to also struggle defending inside shots. He plays good position D but when they put up the shot he seems unable to block or alter it. Some guys have a knack for blocking shots. Hopefully Dean can learn how this is done, I think it would really help him.

Blocking shots and defending inside will not be a strong part of his game. However I thought he did a good job of moving and covering players on the dribble. This is the NBA and everyone is going to lose some battles but I thought overall his defense was good.

I would agree with Xtra on this one. He defends the drive better than any of the other bigs on his team, but he could get better at creating space to allow him to block more shots. It’s tough to block shots if you get bodied up too tight. And there was one game that he and Windler played the whole 4th quarter with 5 fouls that didn’t help their defense.

I wondered if he may have been closing out a little fast and this allowed some to go around him with the dribble? I haven't been able to view a lot of the summer league games but did see him get beat. Possibly some of it was not his fault and had to do with switching and team D.

I watched his game last night and he played fine and a lot of minutes but could not make any shots. Had a lot of open looks from three and took those shots but did not connect. I was actually encouraged by the fact he took those open shots. He can have off shooting nights but Cleveland wants him to be a guy that takes those shots. Keep taking them and they'll start to drop.

Man, those summer league games are hard to watch. I know guys are trying to impress but there are a lot of bad shots and one pass shoot the ball offensive sets. Woof

Yep. Didn't watch, but saw the box score. Those nights will happen.
Wish he would have shot more at KSU. There were way too many times that he would pass up open shots in college.

Dean, to me, was a very frustrating player. When he wanted to play and shoot he was dominant and effective. Great passing. High percentage shooting and made other teams double him a lot.
But, for some reason there were games where he would just look disinterested. Passing up wide open shots or drives to the basket. Then there were the injuries. Obviously, not ihis fault, but crap everytime it came to the NCAA's he was injured leaving fans to only think ''What if."
I hope he finds a spot on a team in the NBA and does well.

I hope he takes care of that foot. Dean Wade kinda reminds me a little bit of Kawhi Leonard. Before you tell me I'm nuts, just hear me out. Wade in kind of mechanical. He has big games, like Kawhai, that are quiet big games. Not flashy, but makes some awesome plays and helps better those around him. He actaully shoots better than Kawhi coming out of college. Wade needs to put on some muscle to help him play defense against NBA bigs and rebound.
I hope he gets to play a lot. I have no doubt if he is cut by Cleveland, someone else will be there to pick him up. He'd look damn good in a Spurs jersey and I think he'd excell in San Anonio. But I am biased, so....

One of my favorites and one my most frustrating. His passiveness was always just around the corner. I think I was every bit as frustrated that the staff couldn't get that coached out if him, but regardless, a great young man, and I'll always root for the kid.
