Re: Goodnews to Transfer
It may have gone something like this: "Goodness, you are a long ways from seeing the court. You might want to reconsider what school you play for." Translation - Several other prospects have emerged who we really want.

you know p'dave, that's only fair though. let a youngster know where he stands, so he has some options.

Definitely odd, but he seemed to have the least amount of upside of any of the recruiting class, even before he joined the team. If Goodnews doesn't think he can contribute at KSU then it's probably good he transfers now instead of later... and both wish each other the best of luck. Not a huge loss, especially if it opens a way for Grill to join the team.

That's right. Why lead him on and let him ride the bench for 3 years. Kids want to play. I think that's more important than the name on the jersey. Recruiting is a harsh and competitive environment.

Sorry, I didn't see your earlier post. That's on me for not being up to date on the current state of affairs I guess. Thanks for the info.opcat7755 wrote: ↑April 4th, 2019, 10:20 pmSee my post above. I don't believe you are correct. In 2015 things changed for P5 teams as part of wide sweeping changes that also included the stipends.epicsnyder wrote: ↑April 4th, 2019, 5:57 pm
There is no such thing as a '4 yr scholarship'. For anyone. The are renewable/revocable year after year. And that is true in every sport, at every school, in every conference.
In a perfect world, everyone would choose hard work, morals and ethics over obscene money and fame. And everyone outside of Lowrents would be required to be a red blooded, card carrying Payhawk hater.

I saw a headline that the NCAA is going to take another look at the transfer situation. Duh.wild@nite wrote: ↑April 4th, 2019, 7:50 pmMany of us predicted it would turn into a complete circus and it has. Not saying it's all the players fault either. I don't like the direction of college athletics one bit.PurpleOnWhite wrote: ↑April 4th, 2019, 12:36 pmThe national recruiting process is beginning to smell like rotten chicken.

Unless Goodnews can find the perfect fit, I would advise him to go the juco route so that he would have an opportunity to both work on his game and the books. If he is honest with himself, he should have a pretty good idea of what he needs to work on in both areas. NOTICE: I am not commenting on his ability in the classroom or the basketball court. I wish him all the best for the future.
