What kind of force........
hovers over that barn called Allen Fieldhouse? I just watched a video clip of head case Vick sinking a long, off-balanced three to tie the game against Stanford. All through the game, my son was texting that Stanford was outplaying KU throughout the whole game. He said Stanford was up by 10 most of the game. I told him, don't worry, Vick will throw in a bunch of threes at the end of the game to pull them out. That's exactly what he did.
Each and every year, some player steps up and delivers for that team. Vick has been a head case. He's been involved in all kinds of incidents off the court. He has been in Self's dog house for several years. Now, he's the savior of KU because, without Vick's 57% three point shooting, KU would have sustained several losses by this time. One of them would have been last evening.
Stanford had a 3 point lead with 13 seconds left. Stanford simply needed to foul KU after they got the ball across the center line, but they didn't. What on earth does it take to beat that team in Lawrence? They were outplayed for 34 minutes in that game and then Vick, who had not scored much, starts throwing in threes from all over the court. It's like nothing I've ever experienced.

The officials, for once, had done a good job late in the game, correctly calling Lawson for hacking the Stanford players at the rim several times. But the force will not be outdone. All you could do is laugh as the predictable moonshot prayer went in.
Friendly reminder that Vick kicked a woman in the face without video evidence.

There are just teams like that. It doesn't seem to matter who's wearing the uniform, they become basketball gods wearing it. A local high school team did that for decades around here. Every year you'd think that this is it, some skinny freshman from the year before blossomed into a 6'3" scoring machine. But they worked hard at it so.......

In football, OU, Bama, Ohio State has the same kind of "force" working for them.

didn't watch. but relying on a headcase like vick time-after-time won't work over the long term. he's as likely to end up on the police blotter as the scorecard.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

It’s tradition. The kids from early grade school live for the day that they can carry that tradition on. And yeah they work for it. Same in college. It’s a confidence builder.hilltopwildcat wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2018, 6:22 amThere are just teams like that. I highly doubt that most of the guys on KUs roster grew up KU fans - it was the school that had the best $$ Offer at the time - those guys are basically already professional basketball players

You are right. I asked my son if the officials were taking over. He said they were calling a good game, but the force will not be out done.RubberBandCat wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2018, 3:27 amThe officials, for once, had done a good job late in the game, correctly calling Lawson for hacking the Stanford players at the rim several times. Hard work does not explain off balanced threes going in every time you need one. It doesn't explain not fouling when fouling would, essentially, give you the game. I don't see Vick as a hard worker except at partying.
You have a player, in Vick, who would have been kicked off the team at most programs. He was in the dog house in Lawrence and that's saying a mouth full. KU has thrived on 3 point shooting, which opens up the outside-inside game. They lost three of the best three point shooters in the nation last year. They replaced them with inexperienced guards who, at this point, are not huge 3 point threats. Lawson is not the basketball god that the press hype made him to be. Thus, KU was looking at 2 or 3 losses in the non conference. For any other team, it would have been. But, not for KU. Up steps head case Vick who has wandered around the basketball court like the player who cares more about 330 a.m. than he does 330 p.m.
All of a sudden, the guy can't miss from three.
You're witnessing a supernatural phenomena. There is no way in hell that you can, year after year, get saved by a long list of phenomena defying explanation. Duke, with it getting the best players in the nation year after year, can't do it. Kentucky, with it's perennial NBA players, can't do it. North Carolina, with it's tiddlywinks curriculum, can't do it.
This is not high school basketball. This is college basketball where you go up against Bob Huggins and his top 10 teams. You go up against Buddy Hield and very good Iowa State teams. At some point, you have to end up with a mediocre season like every other team in the land.

It’s simple. They’re the best at cheating. In a sport where the best teams have been knowingly paid for since the Wooden era.., they are the best. They've been doing it since Chamberlin! Pre-dates Wooden or roughly same time...
