Anytime you have 4 or more in a class, it can be a bit concerning in the area you pointed out, if the class sticks together. Odds are, you'll have some attrition in a class that big. But I think the biggest thing right now is getting some talent onto this team, and ridding of the non-contributors. Right now we are at 4 incoming Freshman and 1 sophomore. And a couple of the guys that we are still recruiting are freshman and sophomores. So anyway you cut it, this will be a underclassman heavy team next year with 8 scholarships(as of now) being taken so far.Watutalkaboutwillis wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 4:07 pmSo, we are going to implode everyone left on the team and start over with the current freshman and the incoming guys? OK. I actually can see the vision in that one. BUt will be a monumental task in a few years to completely turn the roster over again. I guess you just plan on a couple guys leaving/tansfering/kick out every year?

I think the portal has forever changed the face of college sports and certainly envision one or more players leaving annually for greener pastures. Not sure what to think of the program squeezing marginal players to leave the program for an upgrade. The not-so-pretty side of college sports is now front and center. And, a coach on the hot seat might force issues they normally wouldn’t.Watutalkaboutwillis wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 4:07 pmSo, we are going to implode everyone left on the team and start over with the current freshman and the incoming guys? To be fair, SNW had disciplinary problems which was part of his leaving. Love and Shadd aren't marginal players, they are non-existent players. It's one thing if they have actually been healthy and contributed, but they have barely seen the floor in their time here.PurpleOnWhite wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 4:46 pmI think the portal has forever changed the face of college sports and certainly envision one or more players leaving annually for greener pastures. Players have been squeezed out prior to the portal though. Frank Martin sent several packing.
As for completely turning over the roster, KSU has had 6, or more, players in a class several times (includes transfers). Bold indicates they finished their career at Kansas State or are still at Kansas State.
2002 - Thomas, Ellis, Hayden, Hart, Richards, Hayes
2003 - Martin, Harris, Hughes, Diarra, Massey, Williams, Willingham
2005 - Kent, Afeli, Hoskins, Wright, Yearby, Taybron
2006 - Colon, Merriwether, Young, Bennett, Maybank, Walker
2007 - Pullen, Samuels, Sutton, Anderson, Brown, Beasley, Gilbert
2009 - McGruder, Irving, Henriquez, Judge, Russell, Peterson
2011 - Gipson, Lawrence, Rodriguez, Diaz, Jones, Watson
2013 - Iwundu, Foster, Johnson, Thomas, Karapetyan, Bolden, Edwards
2015 - Brown, Wade, Hales-Williams, Stokes, Freeman, Maurice, Ervin
2017 - Stockard, Shadd, McGuirl, Wainright, Mawien, Sallah
So there is a very good chance that not everyone in their class stays at KSU for their whole college career as it is.

Why is there something rather than nothing?
