Give it a few years -- we will likely be seeing top college players earning that kind of NIL money. Remember when Nigel Pack made national headlines for getting paid $800,000 over two years to go to Miami. That was in 2022.katlander wrote: ↑September 30th, 2024, 7:41 amFollowing that line of reasoning maybe we should have given Hawkins 10 million. It is really not a revelation to acknowledge that paying exorbitant wages helps to attract employees.SCKSCat wrote: ↑September 25th, 2024, 2:05 am
Today in the Wichita Eagle Kellis Robinett pointed out the Cats last signed a 5☆ recruit in 2009. He posed several points why we have been getting such players seriously.
"For starters, Tang is an aggressive recruiter who helped Scott Drew land touted prospects for years when he worked as an assistant at Baylor. But there is much more to it than that. The Wildcats have also made it clear that they aren’t afraid to spend NIL money. It sent shock waves through the sport when K-State promised to pay Coleman Hawkins more than $2 million to transfer in from Illinois during the off-season. It’s hard for any recruit to ignore that kind of money."
Landing Hawkins for 2 million is deriving benefits greater than having him on a roster for 1 year. Most recall Alabama basketball becoming a hot commodity when it became clear that they were going to be wheeler dealers for players.
All of programs and agents that have been using the mention of Kansas State as leverage to get a player signed up for NIL at another school only have given us credibility, but now we have the loot to make the deals.

On October 26, Maleek Thomas will visit K State.
He is a 5 star combo guard, and the 8th ranked player for 2025.
He is a big guard at 6-4
I am stunned by the number of elite recruits who have visited.
Weber put out a lot of bank lines, but caught few fishes.
Tang seems to be fishing with dynamite like Crocodile Dundee did.
Hope he can land a fish while they are stunned.
I think waving big NIL money around to get attention is just fine.
I am an old bastard who would like to see us make a final 4 before I croak off.

Jeff Goodman thinks it will take a 7-9 million dollars NIL money to land A.J. Dybantsa.
I figured it would be more like the money Hawkins got. Hope Goodman is just trying to get everyone snorted up.

I don’t believe the PFP (aka NIL) has anything to do with ticket sales. It’s big money boosters/donors. People that have tons of money, are big on their universities athletic successes and it’s a chance for them to have an instant impact on the program without being a coach or player.WildcatEngineer wrote: ↑October 11th, 2024, 10:10 amThe Field of 68

We've only begun to see the issues this is going to cause if there isn't a cap put on it, along with a sit out year installed again after transferring, unless the HC leaves. But even then, I'd say you only get to transfer without a sit out year if you haven't transferred before. This wild west free agency and pay for play is already getting out of control. Just wait... If not reeled in, you will see more issues. Just wait until these ultra rich donors start calling shots. On and off the field. What a mess.

In my previous post, I responded to katlander by saying give it few years and top players will be making ten million a year in NIL money. Looks like we won't even have to wait that long.SCKSCat wrote: ↑October 10th, 2024, 11:22 pmJeff Goodman thinks it will take a 7-9 million dollars NIL money to land A.J. Dybantsa.
