Re: Recruiting Thread
I known that some posters had discounted Iowa State recently, but Grill's comments after his visit were very positive -- and they seemed more than just pro forma comments to me. I do believe early playing time was a significant factor. As he said, he had three good options in KSU, ISU, and UNLV with the coach he had committed to earlier.

Grill was option #2 for ISU. Once they missed on option #1, the road opened up for him for playing time. Had they gotten their #1, he would be at UNLV likely. Sloan accepting K-State's offer first could have also played into it.IStillLikeHarv wrote: ↑May 7th, 2019, 12:45 pmI known that some posters had discounted Iowa State recently, but Grill's comments after his visit were very positive -- and they seemed more than just pro forma comments to me. K-State had the home state, UNLV had the HC, ISU didn't have anything until just recently when they could offer playing time. That is why they were considered 3rd in the race. Things change pretty quickly in recruiting though.

Good post and probably pretty close to how things happened.AJcat7755 wrote: ↑May 7th, 2019, 2:59 pmGrill was option #2 for ISU. Just looked at a mix tape for Gary Harris jr., and he is an interesting prospect. He looks more like a three to me, but with Sneed graduating after this coming season, that might not be a bad place to pull someone in this year. Obviously I have no idea where KSU stands with him.

I would rather save the ship till next year than just hand it out to a body because we happen to have one to give.
I think that is where the staff screwed up w Goodnews. They could have seen someone they really liked and aggressively recruited them the whole winter knowing they had a scholarship to give rather than just "thinking" someone might leave. Recruits notice that too, wondering if there will really be a spot for them.

I couldn't find much on him other than the video. This link says he was going to go to prep school after decommitting from SDSU. It doesn't indicate what school, and I haven't found any other links on the web. Most Google links are about the NBA player with a similar name (no jr).

Here is a link to more info from his twitter page. He is getting quite a few late offers. He can jump.

We have made offer to Jeff Ngandu. Center, 6-9, 220. He is a big mystery. Boise State has offered to. This is telling as BSU has a bunch of whoppers; must know how to recruit them. This kid is from Congo, and only has played I believe last year in HS. Has coach found a rough gem? Boys, I am excited!

I see reports on his offer, but not too much else. He is said to have a long wingspan. If he is the player on the far left of this photo, uh, yeah, it looks like he does. They also say he is a rim protector. That too, seems plausible!SCKSCat wrote: ↑May 8th, 2019, 12:14 pmWe have made offer to Jeff Ngandu. Center, 6-9, 220. He is a big mystery.
