Ames was a good freshman. He chose to head for the portal when Coach Tang brought in a number of guards. But Dug McDaniel has a higher upside IMO. Dug's seized the PG position and upped his game significantly. He has been one of the main reasons for the team's turnaround this season.

Dug has been an upgrade. This was a good game for Dai Dai, but his overall stats are mediocre.

And it proves that KState can attract good talent. Hopefully, moving forward, Tang can keep some of young talent in Manhattan.

Better to have Dug, who Castillo can learn from so he can eventually take over after. It just wasn’t going to work here for Dai Dai with those aspects. Not sure if this is his one hit wonder of a game either.

I find it interesting that it’s unanimous that a guy shooting 26% this year is an upgrade over a guy shooting 39%. Dug does have some upside for sure but compared to his stats over the previous two years I’d be cautious to state that he’s been a big upgrade over Dai Dai.

P-Daddy,
No offense to Dai Dai, but Dug McDaniel was recruited to K-State to play point guard (PG). He's never played PG before in college, as he's been a shooting guard the whole time, per Coach Tang. He has skills, but maybe it's taken him a little bit to make the adjustment to a new position. I'm encouraged by what I've witnessed from Dug and many of the other new players on the team. Let's hope they've turned the corner and will play lights out the rest of the way. Go Cats..!
