I can attest to American Airlines sucking. We were stranded at DFW for 3 days in June of 2022. They were rude, and flat out dishonest, on multiple occasions. I will never fly American again. On day 3, after two canceled 740pm flights, they changed our gate 3 times (3 different terminals) 2 hours before the flight, so we were scrambling, only to board us and cancel a third straight day. I was so pissed. Man, I ripped them a new one coming off that plane. Security calmed me down and said they totally understood my frustration. After this, I rented a car and drove the 8 hours. Luckily, my trip insurance paid part of that . AA offered us a $200 voucher for future flights after a strongly worded email. 3 days and you offer me $200? They also gave us $12/day meal vouchers. $12/day? You joking? They were also handing out cheap ass hotel vouchers like candy when flights were cancelled, without even checking vacancy. Hundreds of people were paying for Ubers to hotels (with AA vouchers) and the hotels were full. People were screaming at the hotel attendants when we gpt to ours the first night and they said AA does this all of the time in that area. Families of 4-6 with no hotel and had already paid for an Uber. So many flights were being canceled that the voucher lines were like 400 people deep. People were trying to cut the lines, people arguing, and NO SECURITY until a fight broke out. It was an unbelievable experience. I told AA to shove their $200 voucher where the sun doesn't shine. I would avoid AA at DFW like the plague unless you live in the DFW area.

Agree with every thing Wild says negatively about Amateur-Airlines. The last time I flew AA, what was supposed to be a 6 hour flight to Knoxville, turned out to be about 16. And it was all about AA incompetence and rudeness.

Yikes. What a nightmare! It seems like the entire airline industry is a mess right now. I haven't flown in years and I will never fly again unless I absolutely have to.wild@nite wrote: ↑September 10th, 2024, 8:13 amI can attest to American Airlines sucking. I attended a wedding in Texas last February. I initially thought about flying out of Manhattan to DFW and then from there onto San Antonio, but decided to drive there instead. It turned out to be a great decision, even though the traffic around DFW and Austin was pretty busy driving down. The weather for the entire route was really nice for early February (even Manhattan was in the 70s for the entire weekend). I left New Braunfels Sunday morning and breezed through the big cities and made the 11-hour drive back to Manhattan in one day. No lines, no baggage checks, no security, no being crammed onto a plane into a tiny seat, no air sickness, no rental cars, etc. Just the freedom to get behind the wheel of my own car, leave when I want, stop when I want, eat where I want, and do things at my own pace and being in control. Priceless!

Wow STL, I had to look to make sure I didn’t write the last part of your comment. Seriously, driving allows the freedom to decide when to leave and when to stop. You are in total control. I haven’t flown in years and hopefully will never have to again. I will add that I love to drive and see the country and terrain and interesting places.

Wow, you guys have had some real misfortunes flying AA. I use them for work a couple times a month, flyng out of XNA with seldom any problems.
In 2022, while on vacation we had a layover in LaGuardia and our flight home was overbooked. The four of us volunteered to take a later flight that day after AA offered $1200 vouchers per person. We used those the following year to take a vacation to Alaska

Saw this story on the internet about inept, clueless American Airlines.
Flight turned around after 5 hours and returned to original airport because of toilet problem that could have been fixed with a screwdriver. AA left passengers in the dark. Typical AA culture.

Haven't flown AA much over the last 10-15 years. I usually stick with Delta, United, or Southwest Airlines.
