Re: Tomlin

Tomlin has been invited to the G League Elite Camp prior to the draft. This is good.
Kaluma is also on this list. Baba Miller is on it also.
The field of draft prospects scrimmage for two days in Chicago starting on May 11 ahead of the NBA’s annual draft combine. If players perform well enough, they’re often promoted to the larger combine immediately following the G League Elite Camp. Typically, at least a half dozen players move on.
Kaluma and Miller will make decision likely after around May 11.
I am glad Tomlin is getting a chance.

Nae'Qwan Tomlin had a solid day at the G League Elite Camp, and has been invited to participate in the NBA combine. This is positive

Nae'Qwan Tomlin played with the Cavaliers in the NBA Summer League, averaging seven points, 2.4 rebounds, one assist and one block on 50% shooting from the field in five games. He produced his best game on July 17 with nine points, two steals and two blocks in a loss to the Golden State Warriors.
The 23-year-old will participate with the Cavaliers in training camp and spend next season in the G League with the Cleveland Charge as part of his Exhibit 10 contract. He can receive a bonus of up to $75,000 if he is waived and stays with the Charge for at least 60 days.

I wonder if this program is still experiencing fallout from the Tomlin fiasco.
Last year IMO not having him on the roster cost us a shot at the NCAA Tournament.
IMO some key players left because they were disgusted with the crap storm from the administration; these players would have helped this year.
Some players we missed out on in the portal last that would of helped this season likely shied away and how many recruits gave us the finger.
Probably the worst part is it created an angry mob mentality in part of our fanbase that is raising its ugly head now.
Funny how some things keep giving. The good will of year 1 seems short lived, but the negativity of Tomlin fiasco will last for years.

I think too much “crazy faith” was placed upon the shoulders of Tomlin. I don’t believe a NCAA tournament bid was guaranteed if he stayed. He was a trouble maker- hot head.
Players, like Carter, leave because every year the staff is looking for a quick fix from the portal. When you guarantee a soon to be national championship, you don’t have time to develop a cohesive unit that has played together. With two of the best dudes in the country looking on from behind their coach (Nowell and Pack), we were told we gotta get some dudes.
Kaluma, Carter and one good, experienced dude from the portal (like Hawkins) would have provided K- State with a solid NCAA team.
Unless you cheat, like the blue bloods did for years, NCAA championships are a magical thing. It takes a combination of playing your best basketball at the right time, a sizeable portion of the positive force (luck), great guard play (because it all begins out front on defense and offense ) and good coaching. Championships don’t come through “crazy faith” and you place the program in a horrible situation when you promise one and soon.
K- State fans have been given a prime opportunity to learn a tremendous life lesson.

I don’t believe in the positive or negative force (luck). I don’t have to believe because I see it at work. It exists whether I want it to or not. Crazy faith is an ideology that says if you believe strongly enough, you will get what you believe in.pharaohcat wrote: ↑December 20th, 2024, 12:52 pmLet's see you believe in positive force but not in crazy faith, interesting!!!! Tomlin would likely have gotten us in the tournament. Would have been another. Player who had to be guarded on the perimeter and that would have opened up the middle. That would have cut down tovs by Can and Kaluma as they drove the middle. Plus another go to guy that could score. Would have taken pressure off Perry, Cam and Kaluma.
But doesn't matter. He did whatever he did and got dismissed.
This year we would be better with Cam and Kaluma. Cam was getting back closer to home so may not have been anything we could do to keep him. But likely could have kept Kaluma with a little more NIL. He would have been the wing scorer who could rebound that this current team needs.
But with Kaluma and the improved play of DNG, would not have taken that many players from the portal to be a good team.
