Re: Bahamas tournament
There is no quit in this team.
We got blitzed that first half. The game was a learning, get better experience.

Absolutely. Just too deep a hole on a very off shooting day. Won’t be the norm and may be the only time they shoot that poorly from 3 all year.
Good game by Cam with 28 to go along with 5 rbs and 4 assts. He never quit and started taking it strong to the whole. Kamula had a nice double double with 18 and 12.
Perry really struggled shooting but had 8 rbs and 5 assists.
Just need to find more from others. Tomlin will help and hopefully Glover as well. Also not having Ames hurt some too as he’s been playing well.
I’m actually very confident that we have a very good team with what I watched in defeat. Couldn’t hit the 3 but fought and made it respectable. Didn’t have many key players. We’re going to be alright once conference time gets started.

This team will get better, but I don’t think significantly better. Very difficult to replace the type of talent we lost. Defense is about effort and “want to”. We don’t seem to put out enough effort and “want to” into stopping the other team. We will struggle against good offensive teams.

What?? Nobody knew what we really had at this point last year. We didn’t play anyone like Providence or Miami on last year’s non con schedule. Kamula is actually is expected to be at least as high if not higher draft pick. Perry can shoot better that Nowell. McNair is better than Iyiola. Ames, Glover and Jones will make up for Desi and then some. Carter is much better this year. N’Gussan is what he is. Rich just needs a little time and experience. He can be like Miami’s Omier only I think more explosive.bigpurpleman wrote: ↑November 19th, 2023, 4:53 pmThis team will get better, but I don’t think significantly better. We certainly have the chance to be as good if not better.
It seems we as Cats fans don’t want to believe we can have good teams too. We have coaches now that can and are making that happen. Believe.

Our goal is to get back to the NCAA Tournament. Not to be world class ass stompers.
We will not be a team that rolls.over like a whipped dog that sticks out his yanger. We just lost to a final 4 team that returned much and added nice players from the portal.
Is missing 3s a head thing?

Yep, certainly can be. It can be like with baseball where they say hitting is contagious. You get two or three guys hitting and everyone is believing they can as well. Or vice versa. Shooting the 3 can be much the same. Miami is a good shooting team and once two or three hit a few, they all believed and with the lead there was no pressure.SCKSCat wrote: ↑November 19th, 2023, 5:52 pmOur goal is to get back to the NCAA Tournament. You miss a couple and then start thinking about it. Shooters don’t really think about the shot, it’s muscle memory reflex. It’s like breathing. You don’t think about breathing. If you are you’re likely in trouble and the same with shooting 3’s.
I go to the gym and shoot as part of my cardio. Just love shooting. But I’ll go out and hit 8-10-12 3’s in a row and just throw them up there one after another, no thinking. But I can go out the next time and miss 8-10-12 in a row and then I’m trying to hit a 3 instead of just letting it go. I start thinking about it instead of just shooting. And I usually can’t really get it going that day. I may start hitting a few but not in succession like the previous time. It will be the next time out after I had like a reset. I think the guys will reset and come out knocking them down next time out.
Not really trying to sound like an authority on the issue, but just sharing from my experience. And sorry, kind of windy response.

Not saying it would be a totally different game but get our two guards back we were missing today and that would help spread some time if nothing else. And if Tomlin can get him self straightened out we will make things interesting but this group needs to "gel" on defense to make that happen.

I think we miss Tomlin's defense and rebounding as much as his scoring.alwaysacat wrote: ↑November 19th, 2023, 6:56 pmNot saying it would be a totally different game but get our two guards back we were missing today and that would help spread some time if nothing else. Miami played 4 guards and a mobile forward. Cleavand and Poplar are big guards. We did not match up well with this kind of line. Rich was used on a big guard later in the game and we had better success.
