basketball minutia ..
Re: basketball minutia ..
It would be interesting to determine what Mike Evans point total would have been had the 3 point shot been in effect during his playing time. He had great range. Him and Chucky Williams used to launch some deep shots.

LSU stats
Over the course of his three seasons at LSU, Maravich averaged 44.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.
44.2 points per game AVERAGE. This blows my mind and is more impressive than the total points. I heard he wasn't good on defense though.

You're exactly right SCKSCat. Pete Maravich's three season of 44.2 points per game trump Caitlin's total points, since Maravich also did this in the pre-3-point line era. Which makes Pistol Pete's record even more impressive. He would have averaged easily over 50 points per game with today's rules.SCKSCat wrote: ↑March 4th, 2024, 4:24 pmLSU stats

And there was no shot clock. So shots per game were likely limited. A shot clock forces more shots per game because you can't stall.KSUbetcha wrote: ↑March 4th, 2024, 6:01 pmYou're exactly right SCKSCat. He shot and made 43.8% of his field goals.

ku was preseason #1. i suspect nijel's $400,000 paycheck for this year will lesson his blow at miami. texas is so talented yet just 8-9 in the b12.

I was saying that about UT yesterday as well. Lots of underachieving in Austin. A team like UT, or another middle of the pack team, could win the Big12 tourney if they heat up. TCU, Tech, even KState.
A person can be a socialist in a capitalist society, but a person is not allowed to be a capitalist in a socialist society.

There is so much parity in college basketball right now. I find it hard to leave Iowa State out of the discussion. I think Houston will likely be there. Gonzaga has been getting hot. I wouldn't want to play BYU in the tourney either. 2 Big 12 teams could make it. Big 12 basketball is a tough out right now.tmcats wrote: ↑March 6th, 2024, 5:13 pmhttps://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings

I think a Big12 team will win the NIT. But I am a homer, so....
