I watched the entire KU vs Ark game and it did not look like a Bill Self coached game. a) When Arkansas went on their runs in the 2nd half Self would have got a TO b) Self would have done something to stop the Arkansas kid that got hot in the 2nd half (similar to what Tang did after the Montana kid got off to the hot 2nd half start). c) Self has a way to extend the last minute of a close game for what seems like an hour. That did not happen yesterday.

I am wondering historically what that game yesterday will have on the KU Program. I could see Bill Self come back and not have the same intensity as a Coach. Plus the NCAA punishment is still out there. This very well could be a turning point for KU Mens Basketball.
You beat me to it. When does KU blow a 12 point 2nd half lead? Probably has happened under Self but it is rare. It may have even happened earlier this year during their 3 game skid. Typically Self would have called a time out when Arky cut it to 6. Then he would have set up a designed play with an 80% chance KU scores to stop the run. He also would have made a defensive adjustment and they would have gotten the turnover and a runnout. Crisis averted. How many times have we seen this? Not sure, but way too many.

I hear what you’re saying but not sure I agree with the “did not look like a Bill Self coached game”.

Was it a Bill Self coached game when they lost in the Bahamas to Tennessee by 14? Or when they lost 3 in a row to KSU, TCU and Baylor, with the TCU loss being at home and by 23? Or when the lost to ISU by 15? And that was when ISU was struggling with losing the 2 games before and 2 after the ku win. Or in the 16 point loss to Texas? And to follow that up with a 20 point loss to Texas one week later in front of a overwhelming ku biased crowd in kc?

How about the second round 2 point tournament loss to N Iowa? A game I was there in person and enjoyed throughly. Or a one point loss to Bucknell in the first round? Or the 3 point loss to Bradley in the first round? Or a 3 point loss to a 10 seed Stanford in the second round? I don’t recall Norm being the main man in any of those games.

And the guys who took the court for ku in that game yesterday had all been playing for Bill all season, some for 3-4 years. They know how they’re supposed to execute.

No I think that was the same type of ku team I’ve seen, they just got out played. Would Bill have made a difference? We’ll never know for sure. But one thing I do know for sure, the same guys would have been on the floor for both Arkansas and ku.

I won’t take anything away from the hogs getting a big tournament win by saying things would have been different if Self had been there. Ku fans may want to say that to make themselves feel a little better, but I just presented enough history that shows evidence it may not have made any difference at all because he’s lost game like that to lesser teams while he’s was on the bench.

Well Creighton is looking like that preseason ranking. They had some injury issues and started the season a little rough, but looking like the top 10 team they were predicted to be.

They’re hot but Baylor’s not going away. And the way they can score in bunches you just never know. But have to get some stops.

We are underdog once again against Michigan State in fivethirtyeight (55-45). Time to prove the doubters wrong. Once again.

That is fair and accurate. The other main point that I wanted to make in that post is this very well could be a turning point for the KU Mens Varsity Basketball Program.
