I think Desi Sills absolute burst of energy in the 2nd half was largely responsible for the Cats pulling away with the win. He was a whirling dervish for about 5 minutes and it changed the game.

I agree about AAU coaching being hit or miss, still JUCO players do make a jump in their 2nd year, and I hope Tomlin does better next year.
gonna say it this way: don't remember the game, but think it was early in the conference. tight game. last time out, time ticking away... the look on Tomlin's face was a bit like a deer in the headlights. big game. big pressure. didn't appear to 'want' to be the guy to take the shot.

fast forward to NOW. probably is not the guy we necessarily 'want' to take the shot, but he's got a lot more confidence in himself and I think would take it.

tomlin has grown leaps and bounds THIS season already. and I'd submit even more in the tournament.

he's getting a sense of what he can do. and is doing it.

I've really enjoyed watching him progress this year. expect more next year, but next year has to wait until next year.

naquan puts on 10-15# and spends the off season working his jump shot, he's going to be an all-american his senior year.

I have been both surprised and impressed with Tomlins low tov rate. He operates in traffic in the paint and also does a fair bit of ball handling on the perimeter.
Does not get stripped. Has strong hands and catches tough passes. Does not make many sloppy or ill advised passes.
Surprising for a guy his size.

Agreed, except for the sloppy outlet pass that Kentucky stole and then he fouled them for a 3 point play in the first half. That was not a good sequence for him.

True, but in general he values the ball and is careful not to give it up. I can see the guy having a huge game for us if he is hitting on all cylinders. I'm talking 20pts, 10 bounds, 5 blocks and a couple assists and steals. Its doable.

Wow, I like prognostications where you lay it on the line. But you very well may be right. I would be happy with 2nd team all B12.

not exactly sure why, but when I watch tomlin play, I keep wondering if that was how scottie pippen looked in college...

One thing I’ve been impressed with is that Tomlin and the other bigs have made large strides in being aware that a pass may come at any time from any angle. There were a lot of missed opportunities early in the season, less now. Tomlin has very good court presence. And moves well off-ball.

I mentioned to my wife in a recent game that it is so good to have 5s with good hands. Can't imagine how many bloody noses our recent iron-handed centers would have gotten from Quis.
