We have won the last 3 games without N'Guessan. I think we go 2-1 in the next 3 games, and 3-0 if we can handle TCU's Lampkin.

I just read through that entire thread. I was struck by the overall positivity towards where we are at. If anyone is going to have critical things to say about the Cats, it's the beakers and any substantive criticism was scarce.

from Slate
"The 4-0 start to Big 12 play matches the best start to conference play since 2007-08, when Michael Beasley led the Cats to five-straight to open conference play, including the win over KU in Manhattan on January 30th. The Wildcats 15-1 overall start is the best since the 1958-59 season, a year the Bob Boozer-led Cats went on to finish 25-2, losing to Oscar Robertson’s Cincinnati Bearcats in the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament (Elite Eight)."

...and they were 23-1 entering the NCAA tournament. Something to shoot for maybe... :D

It is good to win such a game without Nowell doing well. Sills did not get to campus until October. It appears that he is fully integrated into the Tang-a-ma-jig.

Yes, we need Nowell to get his scoring mo-jo back. He picked up late garbage points at TCU or would have back to back sub-scoring games. We need him to score to stay at the top.

But Sills stepped up in a big way to fill the gap.

It seems like every big game we have had other guys besides Nowell and Johnson step up. Tonight it was Sills, although Ish and Tomlin certainly deserve honorable mention. Baybe, Carter, and David have also stepped up in other games. Greene came off the bench and scored 11 points against TCU. It's great that we have so many guys that can step up when the opposition is focusing on our two main guys.

Bill Self on what KU did to challenge Markquis Nowell...

"I thought as bad as we were early on, you know [Desi Sills] was really the one and Johnson were the two that killed. Dajuan did a good job on him for the most part and our ball screen defense, it wasn't great by any stretch because they passed out of it and made 3s early off of our ball screen defense. But at least it corralled him. So I thought we did a decent job of corralling him and not letting him get in the paint where he could dish off and make easy plays for others."

On the job Jalen Wilson did guarding Keyontae Johnson...

"I thought he took away his left shoulder. I thought he did pretty well. He's a great free throw shooter and we found him a couple of times early and down the stretch. Maybe gave him four or six free throws that I think we could have done a better job of but I thought he competed hard and did a good job. He's a good player. He's good. They got good talent."
