I don't know how Indiana's football program historically compares to KU, but both institutions have always been known for basketball. You don't think Indiana when you think BIG 10 football, although they've had some decent teams lately.
IU:
All-time record 494–682–44 (.423)
Bowl record 3–10 (.231)
Conference titles 2
KU:
All-time record 588–650–58 (.476)
Bowl record 6–6 (.500)
Conference titles 6

we lived in indiana during the knight years. the football program, like ku, was pretty much an afterthought back then, although lee corso brought some interest, and bill mallory some really good teams, six bowl games. the hoosiers play in a lovely stadium in a beautiful place. still, it's all about roundball in the hoosier state.
for those who don't know, ku hoops has higher operating revenue than does k-state football, sans the b12 gor distribution.

Why is there something rather than nothing?

Right but that has no relevance to conference expansion. IU is a original member of the BigTen. They didn't form around football and won't remove original members because of football but last expansion was all about football and this round will still be about it! Although to a lessor extent.Fullypersuaded wrote: ↑August 4th, 2021, 3:42 pmI don't know how Indiana's football program historically compares to KU, but both institutions have always been known for basketball. And that arrogance and ignorance is going to take a major hit when the Payhawk faithful realize their team is slowly coming down to also-ran status now that the cash is flowing everywhere and not just in back door deals in Adidas Fieldhouse. Will be interesting to see how they compare when most other teams are getting bags of cash for kids and their families as well.wazucat wrote: ↑August 3rd, 2021, 2:51 pmBasketball is not relevant when comparing programs, football drives this train and basketball is a rounding error , chump change, and the Squawks thinking their admittedly top level BB program is a stairway to Heaven is just typical Squawk arrogance and ignorance.
In a perfect world, everyone would choose hard work, morals and ethics over obscene money and fame. And everyone outside of Lowrents would be required to be a red blooded, card carrying Payhawk hater.

face facts: the folks that are making the decisions won't do so 'fairly'. they'll basically point to any issue they want to accentuate, whether positive or negative, to justify their decision.
