Starters

What are your predictions for our starting lineup and first 5 off the bench on January 1st, 2022.

Here's mine.

Starters
Davion
Nijel
Mike
Monty
Selton

First 5
Mark
Easy
Markquis
Ismael
Luke (tough call here)

That leaves Seryee, Carlton, Maximus and Logan on the bench. That is pretty good talent at the 3 deep. I could see anyone of these guys earning some serious playing time. Good D will be the first pre-requisite. Shooting/scoring ability may get them on the floor as well. Max. could surpass Luke if he can play D and if Luke continues to struggle with the 3. Carlton could see time at the 4 or 5 if his D is improved and there are injuries on the interior. Hard to think Seryee won't see the floor and Logan could be good, so all may play. Hopefully all can see good minutes in the fall.

Nijel, Miguel, Davion, and Mike I would guess. Would be nice to see a real surprise emerge.

i'd guess the wake transfer, ismael massoud, at the four spot.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

I’d guess Smith, Massoud, and Nowell will all be starting by the time the conference season rolls around. With Pack and Bradford alongside.

Massoud is a real wild card IMO. Is he the player that shot 42% from 3 the first 11 games last year or the guy who shot 23% the last 11 games?

I worry about asking Nijel to guard guys potentially 3-4+” bigger than him on the defensive end. How will that effect him on the offensive end stamina wise? Nowell probably needs to see the floor because of his offensive skills I just wish he wasn’t so tiny.

I'm guessing that Pack, Smith and McGuirl could see a lot of time on the floor together. Mainly because I think Smith will command more playing time than just spelling the other two. That would probably yield a tough D assignment for Smith but would be fun to watch. Contrary argument
would be that Mike doesn't need to play as many minutes as he was forced into playing last year. He is getting to be an old man after all.

I agree it’s not a good situation on defense. But the offensive improvements hopefully outweigh the defense liabilities.

If Miguel makes a little progress on offense which should be expected, his on ball defense will get him lots of minutes.
Packs defense was also much improved by the end of the season.

My hope is Smith, Nowell and McGuirl will all be plus defenders in their own way.

I’m with you and maybe before. Not that I’m saying any of these guys are going to be malcontents or problems if they’re not starting, but I don’t think any of them transferred planning to come off the bench. Didn’t they all start where they were at?
