I'm not 100% sure of his citizenship status, but at what point does the USA deport a non-citizen(assuming SDS is not one)? Surely a felony conviction would be enough, but I have no idea.

With all the football-driven chaos of conference realignment, it may be that the NCAA is dissolved before it gets 'round to sanctioning Kansas. The selection committee can be taken over by ESPN. They can seed and distribute teams among the regions based on viewership and ratings data. You can bet that ESPN doesn't give a rat's ass about Self's shtick.

This has been my concern, too. How long does it take to get to the bottom of what happened and dish out their proper punishment? They may not even get a wrist-slap at this rate.

The only good thing coming out of it, is that the threat of penalties from the NCAA is hanging over the KU basketball program, keeping them in limbo.

KU basketball has landed a five-star prospect in the class of 2022. He's the highest-ranked player the Jayhawks have landed since the class of 2018.

On Tuesday, MJ Rice, a five-star small forward out of Prolific Prep, announced a commitment to the KU basketball program. Rice is the first five-star prospect to commit to Kansas since Bryce Thompson (No. 21) in the class of 2020. The last Jayhawk commitment ranked higher than Rice was Quentin Grimes (No. 10) in 2018.

Rice is the No. 20-ranked prospect, No. 5-ranked small forward and No. 5-ranked California prospect in the 247Sports Composite. The 6-5, 225-pound wing took official visits to Kansas and Oklahoma State this summer. He also reportedly took an official visit to Pittsburgh the week before his announcement.

Maybe he scored a large Adidas contract while in Lawrence.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Texas A&M basketball coach Buzz Williams has been suspended for two games and the team has been placed on two years of probation for multiple NCAA rules violations, the NCAA announced Friday.

The violations include Williams having impermissible contact in July 2019 with a prospect. Additionally, an unnamed assistant coach observed and held tryouts with a prospect during an unofficial visit. That assistant was found to have conducted multiple supervised workouts off campus with team members and a prospect that were not allowed because of the pandemic.

NCAA trying to be relevant. Meanwhile, KU’s egregious behavior just sits there.

NCAA board of directors voted last week to have the Complex Case Unit publish timelines of actions that have been taken on existing cases. They are supposed to be available in 30 days. They won't give dates on when future actions will occur but will provide dates on existing work that has been done. IE, should show when a hearing has taken place to review results of investigative work.

Regarding the KU case specifically.
: Is the Critical Case Unit's investigation on KU's case almost completed?

According to NCAA VP of enforcement, Derrick Crawford, it's either finished or very close.

"They are all substantially done investigations," Crawford said of the six NCAA cases referred to the IARP and listed on its website. "There may be a few things that are outstanding, but they are pretty much all winding down and entering the resolution of that investigative phase."
