They are short one player. McCullar.WildcatEngineer wrote: ↑February 12th, 2024, 9:51 pmKU is playing under manned in Lubbock.
First half they are down as much as 14.
They do not look like a fluid Bill Self team.

One interesting stat is Adams only has a 7.9% rebounding rate. 4.6 rebounds in 33.5 minutes a game.
Cam Carter gets 5 rebounds a game.

KU talent level looks way down from their glory days.
They had to buy Dickinson. Was McCullar a recruit, transfer or something else?

Well now everyone can buy talent. Not just Ku, duke and other bluebloods. That would make it seem I'm in favor of NIL. I'm not in any way shape or form. Rules being enforced I am a huge fan of but that wasn't happening.

I think I would be okay with NIL if it was actually used as it was designed, as a way for student athletes to be able to get paid for doing a commercial or signing autographs or selling t-shirts or whatever other type of entity available to them. But using it to buy players is crap and not how it was supposed to be used, but of course when there is no oversight whatsoever, you get the wild west that we have now.

this is one reason i'm less and less interested in mbb. i watched much of the usc/uofa wbb game instead of the txt blowout win. the bump and grind nature of the game, plus monied players like hunter dickinsen, and soiled characters including pop isaacs and terrance shannon, jr. have me more than a little put-off with the men's version.DeereCatFan wrote: ↑February 13th, 2024, 9:59 amWell now everyone can buy talent. NIL is just fans willing to pay for the players on their team. I do not see players separating high dollar fans from their money as a bad thing. Head coaches have been doing it for years. Do they deserve million dollar salaries while the players only get scholarship money.
I do not like NIL but it is also what it is. Put some of your money to support paying players if you want. Don't do it if you do not want to.
Meanwhile, maybe KState can compete with NIL. Maybe they can't. We'll see.
And when top tier coaches go back to receiving reasonable salaries, I might spend more time worrying about boosters paying players.

there's not much in your take that i disagree with, x. i've always thought nil, at least as i originally understood it, was a good thing for student-athletes who were being used by multi-million dollar coaches and administrators. it's now something different though. guys like hunter dickinsen are bought and taken by the highest bidder. the best team becomes the one with the most money. that's not what i envisioned and thus my dismay particularly with mbb.xtrawildcat wrote: ↑February 13th, 2024, 12:22 pmNIL is just fans willing to pay for the players on their team.
