Supercross (dirt bikes for those who don't know) is finishing up their series this weekend. They have been running 2 races a week for the last 3 weeks. No fans, but still great to watch. No issues thus far with the series or riders having Covid. I'm not a Nascar fan, so I'm not following them. I like the MMA and bull riding. Those sports plus SX are fun to watch but it is a little strange without fans. Just still nice to have live sports action on TV. Honestly, I don't miss any of the rest of the sports and I don't care if we have a season or not. I'd be open to college football waiting until spring if the wanted to. Either way, I don't care. I'm perfectly happy with watching racing, MMA, etc.

Just read a local news story saying that this fall, students in the University of Missouri system will be required to wear masks when indoors on campus, including classrooms. I have a hard time seeing student athletes being required to wear masks when competing, which doesn't bode well for having sports this fall.

I guess our best hope is that the COVID cases start dramatically dropping off as we head into July and August and they relax the rules.

23 out of how many already have had it. Most asymptomatic.

Isn't there a chance that most will have had it by fall?

Before there was a vaccine available for chicken pox, some parents would have "chicken pox parties" where they would let their kids play and eat together around infected kids. The hope was the kids would get the virus, which usually consisted of mild symptoms. Then they would have natural immunity from the virus, which was helpful since supposedly the virus is more serious when contracted by adults. This is probably a little bit like what is going on with the players hanging out together after returning to their campuses.

Are any of them being tested for the antibodies, meaning they were already exposed to COVID and have gotten over it? It seems like that information would be important to know, as well.

I believe most players and coaches are being tested for antibodies. Some schools are reporting that information along with positive covid19 tests.

Just saw this article and thought I would share it here. It at least provides a glimmer of hope for this fall.

fake news
Dr. Matteo Bassetti, the head of the infectious diseases clinic at the San Martino hospital, said the virus appears to have become less potent, possibly due to genetic mutations, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

Fake doctor? Or were you just being facetious?

And of course, we all know that CNN is fake news. :)

Sadly I don't want to see any college sports played until there is a vaccine. These young men aren't getting paid so don't risk their lives over a sport.
