Except he's not the sure winner of the job at Florida A&M. He is going to have to win it over backup rSO Rasean McKay who will have had 2 years in the program, taking reps with the existing players, and passed for 538 yards, 6TD/2INT for 71% as a backup last year including a game winning TD in OT in a game and starting a complete game and throwing for 35 passes in that game. McKay is also a Tallahassee, Florida native (same city as Florida A&M) and has some popularity among the fans and fellow FL players as a result. That doesn't exactly seem like it's a sure shot safe option to walk in and take the starting QB job.
You are digging deep to try to make that justification!
Your "more logical argument" about it being a "sure winner of the job" is in fact not logical at all given evidence above. It is not digging deep to simply look at stats and the depth chart from the year prior. It also becomes quite clear that you have no evidence to back your side when you response provides absolutely nothing in value.

Facts:
1. John wasn't a fit for QB at KSU and couldn't even cleanly beat out a walkon in Ast for the backup role, wasn't going to the QB of the future as they have over recruited him, and he tried out at TE. Even Snyder recruited Herron, who would have challenged John for a spot.
2. Given his workout videos at QB after his transfer announcement, he still wanted to play QB in college. He even quit halfway through the season to focus on training his QB skills, and posted all of those videos.
3. John posted offers he got from FCS and JUCOs, and despite retweeting many comments about P5 and FBS schools, he did not post a single offer from them.
4. John has 3 years left to play. He could transfer 2 times had he not found a fit again, and even without RS if he got his degree.
5. John committed to a FCS school, where there is an established backup that has game starting experience and is a local player.
6. John is from Texas, not Florida, so he isn't exactly moving to a school closer to home.

If you want to use that and draw a conclusion that John didn't get FBS/P5 offers not because he wasn't good enough, but because he wanted to have a sure fire starting QB spot at a FCS school, then that's your prerogative.

We will never know the full story, but we can certainly follow up in a few months to see if John wins the starting job at Florida A&M to see if it was a sure fire starting job as well as following his career to see if he does well at Florida A&M. Although one would think that if he is good enough to still play at the P5 level, wouldn't it be a reasonable expectation that he will dominate the FCS level? I hope John does dominate the FCS, and maybe he can turn that into a FBS gig (if he wants it) although it's going to be hard to get past the juggernaut that is NDSU.

i think it's great holcombe can transfer and pursue his dream. it just wasn't happening here maybe because of the coaching change, maybe not. but good for him and the system that he's allowed to go elsewhere even if that's down a class or two to play qb. we should judge this matter like others on facts rather than hyperbolized assumptions.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

And everything AjCat posted above was fact.
