The Wazzuuuuuuuu stadium seats about 32,945.

Vanderbilt around 42,000.
Interestingly, it has an endowment over a Billion dollars.

Word is that Shultz is on his last leg. Putting all his eggs in athletics worked at KSU but has failed badly at WSU. There’s too much to do out west and people don’t care about football and sports in general like they do in the plains and down south.

Wow. I am assuming few, if any changes will be made to the visitor's locker room under Leach. ;-)

Yesterday, he said he’s disappointed that LR no longer exists; now it’s the old home LR.

Maybe he’ll change it back...

WSU is an interesting school to study, given it is a land grant institution, and a top 50 research institution. I would expect that K-State could learn about how to run an institution and WSU could learn from K-State about how to run an Athletic Department.

usnews ranks wsu #166 and k-state #162 on their list of best public universities.

wsu is not on this list of 50 top research universities: https://www.bestcollegereviews.org/top- ... versities/

perhaps schulz shouldn't have been so quick to dismiss john currie as a wsu athletic director candidate after losing bill moos to nebraska.

The ranking universities use is https://mup.umass.edu/sites/default/fil ... t_2017.pdf.

US News ranking lowers land grants because they admit students with lower test scores so no one uses that.

Currie was a great AD. Since he tried to hire Leach away from WSU and got fired, that probably was a political nightmare.

Here are the research metrics KSU uses.

https://www.k-state.edu/2025/dashboards ... rison.html

Currently WSU has a vision to be a top 25 public research university. There are other measures of research too, but KSU fares best in these so I’m sure that’s why they selected them when the plan was put together.

US News and a few others have a different purpose in their rankings. They are trying to rank the best places for students to go to school. A lot of times research is negatively correlated with things an undergraduate student might care about. There are many other factors that affect students over a professor getting a grant to study say, swine flu.

US news is widely used by consumers (aka students and parents). Research rankings are used by no one other than pompous self-centered academics trying to argue their school is better than someone else’s.

The Mississippi State visitors' locker room has not been like that since at least before 1998. Not sure where the one he is referring to was. Until the latest renovation when it became the old home locker room, the visitors was upstairs and had to go up a long, curved ramp to get there.
