The New Gary Patterson

We are looking at the New GP in CK. Keep this staff together and we will be looking at participating in many Championship weekends in the near future!

I agree that the assistants make the difference and while I think GP does a good job, the way GP treats his assistants during a game by yelling and cursing at them. I don't think we will ever see CK do that.

Wow. I didn't know Patterson treated his assistants that way. How does he keep good assistants, acting like that?

Patterson sounds like ronnie prince. I feel CK is a class act and respects all players and coaches who are Wildcats. The coaching job he and his staff did this year should at least get him some votes for big12 coach of the year....

Matt Rhule will get B12 COY, with CK getting a few votes putting him in second place. He will definitely get his B12 COY at some point IMO. He's a stud.

This is just me, but I think the Cats need to pony up an extention of his contract. He will be seen as a candidate for every school that has some money to spend and a football team they want to improve. I can see the SEC teams and the Big 10 teams both shoveling money towards him. Texas too. Herrman is an underachiever.

spot, while I agree. I wonder: how many on here will pass a cow through their sphincter if next year the Cats go 6-6... or worse? and can you imagine what the rabid dogs would be like had we won 10 games this year?

from my perspective, I think reality looks like this: we have a good coach who is showing potential for greatness. we have a program/team that will experience bumps in the road (have already done so this year). the years will ebb/flow just like seasons ebb/flow.

coaches aside, just sit and wait for the discussion from some about how we have to get a better QB. never mind that highest odds are that even if we recruit some hot-shot wunderkind, that he'll not be as capable of executing the offense as skylar. and sure, next year? better RBs, but will the holes be there with the loss we have to rebound from re: o-line?

like sands through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives....

We don't know how he treats his assistants away from gameday. I can tell you firsthand, that some of the most generous guys on earth are very competitive and get in your ear on gameday. Most football coaches will tell you that passion is good. Some guys handle it differently, but I've coached with and for guys like Gary and I've had coaches yell at me. No biggie, as I knew it wasn't personal.

Comparing Prince to Patterson is a joke. #1 Prince doesn't know football like Patterson, #2 Prince has done squat in the profession compared to Patterson, and #3 I don't think Patterson purposely humiliates people to feel big. He is just passionate and emotional. Big deal. His players and staff knows that. I love his passion and work ethic. Love CK's too.

If anyone deserves a raise, it's Hazelton. He took a defense that for the better part of a decade had been soft and underachieving. In one season - and with mostly the same personnel - he completely changed the culture and the results.
