Lose to KU and all the good will the new coach has garnered this season will be wiped out IMO. Though shalt not lose to the Squawks in Football.

lol. KU almost beats Texas in a major upset bid, and people are asking if KU football has passed us... That's like saying, if our basketball team sweeps KU for a year, does that mean KSU has passed KU in basketball? Easy answer, no.
KU is getting better yes. They will have competitive years, but KSU is still a much better program, in much better shape, regardless of the outcome of this year. 1, 2 or even a handful of games doesn't change that. Seasons and especially multiple seasons do. I will say that the talent level between KU and KSU isn't that much different though. I think the game will come down to who can coach better and which team executes better. There's a lot of bragging rights in the sunflower showdown. With both teams having new coaches, this is a game of Program Momentum, as much as anything. And KSU definitely has a lot more to lose than gain.

Is Illinois a juggernaut now that they knocked off WIsky? Can anything happen on a football Saturday?
UT is still very talented and still very much UT. They had a ton of injuries on the defensive side of the ball, overlooked the beaks and were probably having post-coital letdown from the RRR.
For all the butthurt feelings over recruiting rankings, overall they give a good picture of where you team is. I doubt if our guys have any problem getting up for the feathers but the tackling needs to get a lot better.

Our D, even with its issues, is much improved from last year. Our O is treading water but maybe, just maybe, we can build on the TCU game. I am confident we’ll pull out a victory.

Unfortunately, I don't get to suit up, so whether or not Im focused on OU means zilch.
As has been said several times already - KU has one of these games almost every season (and, for some odd reason, it usually seems to be against either OU or Texas). Beaty was pulling in some better athletes on the offensive side of the ball, so not surprised that they are having some success on that side this year. If their QB is having a solid passing day, they can score enough points to beat anyone in the bottom half of the conference. They can also lose by 30 to any of the other nine teams. To be honest, at the offensive skill positions overall (factoring in all of the transfers and injuries) they might have us beat right now- but we hold the edge on defense and special teams. Our offenses are pretty similar in that, if things aren't going well, both teams will struggle to score more than 17 points - which doesn't translate into many wins in this conference.

One note about the game Saturday between UT and KU is they are the 9th and 10th ranked defenses in the B12, both giving up 470 yards or more. We are ranked 4th. We are 10th in rush defense but 1st in pass defense.

That's a double-edged sword.
If Anctil can keep the beaks pinned deep, it will give us a better shot.

If we are 10th in rush defense what coach in football outside of Mike Leatch would be stupid enough to bother to pass against us. I suspect our "poor" rush defense is the reason for our statistically "good" pass defense.
