I disagree, I’ve heard ku fans whine about ittmcats wrote: ↑September 11th, 2019, 1:47 pmwith all due respect, chanting f'ku like classless country bumpkins doesn't hurt ku fan or player feelings, it simply solidifies the disparaging stereotypes about everything k-state.powercat5000 wrote: ↑September 11th, 2019, 1:40 pmIn my opinion, the eff ku chant is the students saying “we’ll chant what we want and you won’t stop us”. If the band quits playing wabash the students will just chant it to another song. Bottom line, if you want the students to stop chanting eff ku, you’ll have to stop playing music- or the school can stop trying to control it. I agree that it’s classless to chant it- but it hurts ku fans and players feelings, and the school is trying to stop it- both throw fuel on the fire.
wow, say goodbye to the wabash over f'ku chant?

Unless it's a game against KU.. I don't really see why we give them the recognition. KU is and has been the laughing stock of College football for the last decade. I completely understand the dislike for their athletics and I hate them as much as anybody here, but be smart about it. It kind of reminds me of when the band made the formation of a Jayhawk vs enterprise that incidentally looked sexual.. but why even bring KU into a KSU game that has nothing to do with KU? Instead, blast the KU score over the intercom and bigscreens at halftime. But I also understand, kids will be kids, and that's mainly what we're dealing with here.

I agree that at this point, its the kids just trying to say they can do what they want. It won't matter what song it is, they will find a way to make it work. Honestly, you can ask them to stop, but trying to control 18-22 year old fans is completely idiotic. And will never work. Its just like the BS chant back in the day, it went away for the most part if you just ignore it. They are 18-22 year olds. They wont stay with anything forever.JOKKO wrote: ↑September 11th, 2019, 1:46 pmNo it doesn't...it just screams "we are in your head!"powercat5000 wrote: ↑September 11th, 2019, 1:40 pmIn my opinion, the eff ku chant is the students saying “we’ll chant what we want and you won’t stop us”. I love more than anything when I hear fans or anybody else trying to boo my team. I have always just laughed and thought that I already own you!

The more publicity it gets, the more the "old folk" tell kids to stop it, the more they will do it out of rebellion. Just ignore it, or stop playing the song and let it die.
As for traditions that I miss, whatever happened to chanting the returners name. Kevin Lockett clap clap... clap clap clap

My favorite football chant is: "REPEL THEM. REPEL THEM. MAKE THEM RELINQUISH THE BALL."
No kidding, we used to chant that in the old KSU Memorial Stadium. I still think it's funny and would be funnier today.
As for fKU. It's tasteless and only makes KSU look bad. It should become a subject for students to debate among themselves on campus and, maybe, come to the decision to drop the chant.

Best answer is to beat them enough times in a row and bad enough where they are no longer worthy of a chant. Nobody likes to cuss somebody you feel sorry for. (On second thought, KU might be an exception)

The Administration's response is as poor as the students. Banning a traditional song will only result in another song being used to taunt KU. Are we going to start banning every song/ In some respects the Administration ought to be happy that the kids come to the game at all. In my day students did not use "fu@k you" as a chant involving KU. It was "screw KU." I can remember hats being worn with the slogan and a screw on the hat. IMO the best way to get the student section to stop with the chant is to get the cheerleaders out in front of the student section with a different slogan to use. Unfortunately, society cannot stop booze addled 18-20 year old kids from engaging in offensive behavior... especially if it involves the snowflake university to the east.

When were you there? As I'm from MO, I already had a deep hatred of the beaks but when the "Rock Chalk chickenhawk, FFFF KU" erupted at my first beak game, I understood hatred. That was 76-78.
I'd say if the band just quit playing when the chant started, it would come to an end.

I remember "Rock Chalk Chickenhawk F KU" in the late 60's. I'm sure it was around before that. (Before the Nichols fire and the rise of the Wabash. Maybe "F KU" is an older "tradition" than the Wabash?)hilltopwildcat wrote: ↑September 11th, 2019, 5:55 pmWhen were you there? Looks like Michigan State is having the same issue, not directed at a rival just every opposing team apparently.
