And when did we get to the point that players can just jump teams for whatever reason and start the same year? What happened to the requirement to sit out a year. How is it that the Fields kid from Georgia jumps ship to Ohio State and is able to play right away?stlcatfan wrote: ↑August 24th, 2019, 6:23 amThat's frustrating to have starters suspended for important games, or any games for that matter. Hopefully this will help those kids in the long run. They need to throw the book (pardon the pun) at that "tutor."Sancho Panza wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2019, 11:31 pmCliffs Notes:
We'll prolly have 2 starters suspended Vs. KState. Neither the NCAA, nor MState allowed to name them, or the other 8 suspended for 8 games.
Bonus coverage:
We named State Pen. Xfer Tommy Stevens starter at QB yesterday; his backup entered the Xfer portal today.
Cowbells will still be there, in force.
Regarding the transfer portal, I am all for kids transferring to another school (so long it is not in the same league) to find a program that provides them a better opportunity to play in a system that fits their skill set. However, it seems like the transfer portal is making it too easy for 2nd string players to just switch schools rather than provide quality depth for their current school. What happens when the starter goes down? Now, as a coach, I have to reach down to my 3rd and 4th strings guys. Then again, I don't know the MSU QB situation. I am just speaking in general terms.

I was just flipping chit Sancho's way, to see if he'd alibi this. As for the "everybody does it" routine, this is just a reflection of our world. Don't give me the throw the book at the tutor stuff either. These kids KNEW what they were doing was wrong. Totally agree that till some contender gets whacked hard, it's just business as usual.
No hard feeling toward the bells just think it's a little funny that someone who points a finger at others has 3 pointing back at him. We've had our share as well.

Oh, I'm not saying that those kids were innocent. Of course they knew what they were doing, which is why I said that hopefully this will be a lesson for them and help them in the long run. Sadly, this kind of dishonesty is very pervasive throughout society - not just college athletics.hilltopwildcat wrote: ↑August 24th, 2019, 10:09 pmI was just flipping chit Sancho's way, to see if he'd alibi this. No school is completely innocent.... However, screw the bells. Fraudulent noise. Fraudulent noise doesn't deserve respect. They get caught cheating once a decade. I'll stress "caught". I'm sick of people expecting college sports fans to be accepting of rampant cheating. No. The NCAA is s joke.hilltopwildcat wrote: ↑August 24th, 2019, 10:09 pmI was just flipping chit Sancho's way, to see if he'd alibi this. KState has been caught before, sure. Frank Murphy borrowed a car damn near 20 years ago (yes, crazy booster gave him a car to drive 5hrs to a recruiting trip. He got suspended 4 games.) Academic fraud is 2 games? C'mon. B.S. Every one of em should be done for the season, at least. A normal student would be expelled.
As far as the Murphy incident, we've had nothing since. The fake noise dogs benefit already from proximity to more talent, then they can't even make their own noise. Guys, seriously, go down there and spend some time. The south is ok with cheating. It's just different than it is here, well, except Lawrence.

The 10 players are suspended for 8 games.
Bonus: 1 is a Basketball player, for a total of 11. We are playing in basketball this season, too.

I don't know why the boner for the bells and don't care. I have a hard time getting too worked up about this or the tigs sanctions considering that UNC essentially has no academic code and got by with it for decades while winning lots of basketball games.wild@nite wrote: ↑August 25th, 2019, 12:18 amNo school is completely innocent.... MSU got caught. I think every K-State fan should thank their lucky stars for John Currie. Who knows what would have happened if Frank Martin were allowed to run free. Jamar Samuels, Jacob Pullen, Curtis Kelley, Michael Beasley ring any bells?
I'm not sure what would happen to normal students. I saw plenty of cheating in my days at KSU and we certainly didn't have the internet to be monitored.
NCAA is a joke. If they can't find something to punish the chickens, uk-e, dook, et al over the FBI investigation, they never will.

Why is there something rather than nothing?

There will probably be an * with a 2 font footnote. Not sure what KState would do with its records.

I think the NCAA only vacates wins from the violating teams. It doesn't award the wins to the team they beat, nor has it removed their losses from the official record. The record book is only affected one sided it seems.PurpleOnWhite wrote: ↑August 29th, 2019, 1:18 pmThere will probably be an * with a 2 font footnote. Not sure what KState would do with its records.
For example, 2004 USC having to vacate their NC win didn't give it to OU, or take away a loss from OU.
