Look at the 'Hurt' thread. It looks like KSU could keep him from playing this year at TCU even as a grad transfer.

Coaches can move around a conference. Why can't a player?

Hopefully we have some decency and don’t try to do that.

It's different, but also somewhat similar in idea. Nobody is stopping a coach from moving to an in-conference rival, just like nobody is stopping the grad transfer from transferring to an in-conference rival and earning a grad degree. But the way a coaches contract/buy-out might be, transferring could be very tough, similar to how it can be tough for a Grad Transfer to play immediately at an in-conference school. Even buyouts of coaches can vary by the school, depending on what was negotiated when hired. The players are accepting a scholarship to a school and by doing that are essentially forced to abide by NCAA rules, which give the schools certain rights(like we're seeing with OU exercising).

To me, it's about protecting the schools interests, in both scenarios, "if" the school feels it's in their best interest to do so.

Delton probably realizes he has no NFL potential at this point. Given his injuries, may be he is thinking about coaching and this would be an opportunity to learn under a different system from someone highly regarded. So, why not go to Dallas for a year and play football. If this is really about the NFL, would be surprised if it is at QB for TCU.

He's athletic enough to play in the NFL, but certainly not at QB. He'll definitely be on his share of highlight reels this coming season.
