Kliff Kingsbury

Post by Zoltar » January 8th, 2019, 3:35 pm

I know skill sets and the game is different but how can you not be good enough to coach at Texas Tech, but good enough for an NFL head coach job?

Yikes. I mean, I think Kliff would make an excellent OC somewhere. But to be fired from TTU after a 6 year losing record only to then be promoted to HC of an NFL team is just bizarre

IDK. If I were a Cardinals fan, I wouldn't like the hire, but the pro game is moving towards offense more than defense much like the college game. He has been able to scout QB talent...that is for sure.

Different sports, but Quin Snyder was a terrible coach at mizery, but has been a pretty good coach for the Jazz, whereas the opposite can be said for Fred Hoiberg (of course he was talent deplete with the Bulls)

Heck, I'd take a shot at coaching the Cardinals for 4 years at the money they're most likely paying him.

Yeah it’s like taking over a FBS P5 program with really only FCS experience.

JK. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Ya, it's like the difference in a 93% winning percentage as a HC over 5 years versus a sub .500 winning percentage as a HC over 6 years. If KK had a 93% winning percentage, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Sorry, couldn't resist....

An interesting tidbit I heard during an interview with Lincoln Riley, was he is not that crazy about the recruiting part of college football. We know LHCBS was not a big fan of aggressive recruiting as well.

I think the good thing about the NFL is Kingsbury will be able to assess what is needed to build the team, and have others do the work of obtaining personnel. I actually think the NFL may be his niche.
