I'm sure that it was a combination of things, 1) the culture and style of play at WVU is more similar to the B12 than other P5 conferences and 2) There has been many rumors for years that the B12 would eventually get back to 12 teams by adding key teams in their region like Cincinnati and possibly Louisville or Memphis. I'm sure they weighed their options and thought the B12 was their best choice. I have always thought we should have 12 teams in the conference as it would make us stronger. Greed has taken over though....epicsnyder wrote: ↑January 1st, 2019, 11:13 amCould have something to do with conference travel heading 1/2 way across the country over and over and over?
That HAS to be a pain in the ass. I am still confused as to why WVU joined a conference where their closest road game is in Ames Iowa. That takes it's toll on students, staff and the coaching staff. Football is actually impacted the least whereas basketball and baseball sure has to strain everyone with long trips like that week after week after week.

There must be more (than money) to this story, if true. DH seemed like a good fit in Morgantown. I’d rather be KState with the recent recruits having made the decision with full HC knowledge than what WVa is facing. Can WVa’s early recruits get out of their commitments under this situation?

Applewhite got a whopping 2 years in Houston before he gets canned?
In a perfect world, everyone would choose hard work, morals and ethics over obscene money and fame. And everyone outside of Lowrents would be required to be a red blooded, card carrying Payhawk hater.

Not only that, in those two years, he had a 15-10 (7-5 and 8-5) record! There must be something else going on. Same with Holgorson and WVU. Why leave a P5 for a G5 school? Although Houston will be paying him P5 level money.epicsnyder wrote: ↑January 1st, 2019, 12:28 pmApplewhite got a whopping 2 years in Houston before he gets canned?

Sounds to me like Houston might be prepping to join a P5 conference.

Sometimes it’s better to be in a positive environment and away from a demanding fan base. Although I don’t know anything about WV other than they have ‘sistermamas’,
I think USC gave Freako Frank more money and a longer deal. Plus he could buy a couple homegrown recruits in SC.

Doesn't sound like Houston is any less demanding - Applewhite did reasonably well in only 2 seasons and they canned him! Regardless, I'm glad he's gone from the Big 12, he's a pretty fair coach.Hypeman wrote: ↑January 1st, 2019, 4:12 pmSometimes it’s better to be in a positive environment and away from a demanding fan base.
