A 6-6 record and a minor bowl game for this new coach is too high a hurdle, an unfair expectation???
Gene Taylor crammed this guy down our craw because he "knows" he is a winner: so it should be no strain for the guy to hit the incredibly mediocre .500 record to get us in the Albuquerque Wild Wings bowl.

Hmm, taking over a 5-7 team, that will be depleted of running backs, an all American lineman headed to NFL, an experienced part time starting quarterback transferring, almost no secondary capable of covering a Big XII offense. Not to mention having 3/4 of your 108th ranked recruiting class picked before you get the job. A 6-6 team and a bowl game, might be a little high. The water into wine thing might be easier.

So you join the forum on Dec. 11, 2018 to be cheerleader for CK and Gene but feel our new NDSU import is unable to reach mediocrity, and to expect so much is tantamount to the H2O to wine deal,WanaBKat wrote: ↑December 18th, 2018, 8:50 pmHmm, taking over a 5-7 team, that will be depleted of running backs, an all American lineman headed to NFL, an experienced part time starting quarterback transferring, almost no secondary capable of covering a Big XII offense. Longtime voyeur, just joined true. Not a cheerleader for anyone, just not sure he is getting dealt the best hand for success the first year. Expectations will be higher for year two when he can have more input with his players. The water to wine may have been a little much.wazucat wrote: ↑December 18th, 2018, 9:11 pmSo you join the forum on Dec. 11, 2018 to be cheerleader for CK and Gene but feel our new NDSU import is unable to reach mediocrity, and to expect so much is tantamount to the H2O to wine deal,WanaBKat wrote: ↑December 18th, 2018, 8:50 pmHmm, taking over a 5-7 team, that will be depleted of running backs, an all American lineman headed to NFL, an experienced part time starting quarterback transferring, almost no secondary capable of covering a Big XII offense. or a power five OC or DC with a proven record of success up and down the ladder and that is a known great recruiter
or a NFL assistant coach that has had extensive college coaching success level recruiting success a known and acknowledged great recruiter
or if all these people turn you down then your fall back coach is Jim Leavitt, who you know will take care of the program for a few seasons and will not allow the program to fall to KU levels of ineptitude. So Jim Leavitt was the minimum acceptable choice.
I am sure that Leavitt could have us in bowl game next season. Jim Leavitt loves K-State, Jim and Bob Stoops were on the same level when they left Manhattan. Leavitt took a much more difficult route than Bob took, Bob is going to the Hall of Fame but he did not have to build a program from scratch and build it to a Top 10 ranking.

I agree with the basic premise that a bowl should be attainable considering there are 50 (yes I know many are reserved for G5 conference). I'm not going to be crushed if we don't.
