I think most of the coaches (except Dickey) actually NEED to get away from the program to learn under other coaches and programs. They need exposure to other offenses and defenses. If they end up being good coaches, they can always come back to KSU. Certainly I'd support keeping any of them that Litrell wants to keep. Again, I'd love for Klein to stay and learn under Litrell.

In terms of having a larger number of assistant coaches retained, I can see if Leavitt were hired that there would be a larger number retained. I can also see that there wouldn't necessarily be a greater change in culture of the program if Leavitt were hired. If Bill has any say in the decision and he's told Sean is not an option, do you think he picks Leavitt over Littrell? I actually think he would tell you he values both approaches, but I still think he would lean toward Leavitt due to his personal connection with him over an "up and coming" coach who is just that. Littrell coming in and changing the culture of the program that Bill built although enticing, kind of sends a message that we are tired of that culture. Bill certainly had a way in retaining assistants and imagine he would like the coach who is most likely to retain them than not.

That is my feeling exactly. Especially the part of once he’s been made aware Sean is not a candidate. If he’s truly having any input, as it supposedly states he will in his contract, I would believe he cast a very strong vote for Leavitt.

FWIW - Collin Klein, Taylor Braet, Zach Hanson and Brian Norwood have all been out recruiting as seen by pictures on twitter.

Even though Littrell seems to be the favorite at this moment, I still would prefer Leavitt, personally (Littrell is a close second.). And if Leavitt kept the coaches you mentioned, I would be very satisfied. I'm sure Leavitt would bring in a few of his own guys - maybe even some former K-State coaches/players. I trust that AD Taylor will make the right decision.

I just don't like that Leavitt was accused of striking a player and at least not being truthful about it all. He was termed for cause but later reached a settlement agreement. Now that the Ducks are on probation he may really want to move.

Leavitt is the natural successor to HCBS and the safe pick. I do not think bringing in an entire new coaching staff is necessarily in the best interests of KState football, e.g., see Nebraska. Building on your own system is the best means of achieving early success. Otherwise, you are entirely starting over if the next coach does not work out.

Whatever can be said about HCBS, his system worked. Those who complained about wanting him retired had more to do with his age than his system.

And how do you know this? Not one person I know cared one iota about snyder’s age. What they cared about was the poor (and declining) product on the field, the lack of effective recruiting, the authoritarian rule that seemed to permeate Vanier, the lack of in-game involvement by the head coach, and on and on. Think what you want, but your assertion certainly isn’t in line with what I’ve seen and heard.

Well the key word there is “accused”.

I don’t believe there was ever anyone who verified the kids story and I’m not so sure even the kids dad didn’t change his story from Leavitt striking his son to being over zealous in coaching his son. But i can’t recall completely.

I’m one who has a hard time holding something against someone where there’s no proof, evidence or anyone else to verify the story. Not fair to Leavitt or anyone else in his position.

I’m completely comfortable with him being head coach, but I also don’t have a son that would be playing for him, but still don’t think I’d have a problem if I did.

Personal knowledge.
