New 2019 Commit - Khalil McClain

Post by ajcksu82 » December 4th, 2018, 2:21 pm

6'4" 222lb WR from Hutch CC. Was signed with Tulane prior to Hutch.

Also had offers from FIU, South Alabama, Southern Miss and Troy.

He would be the biggest, height and weight, WR on K-State's roster.

Too small to be a TE though as those range from 6'4" and up and 230lbs and up.

Interesting that a player committed with coaching uncertainty.

Interesting... looks like he originally signed to Tulane out of HS, as a QB.

I hope he's as good as the other Khalil Mack that plays football...

Do you think commits believe KSU will hire a tyrant of a coach? If I am a recruit I would anticipate that the schools emphasis on quality facilities and upgrading those facilities would also mean they will ensure a fine coach and staff are assembled during the time I am at the school. If I am a top recruit I can see how the coaching staff is really what I'm sold on whereas a middle-of-pack recruit will take the best opportunity he is given. KSU would be a big upgrade over Tulane, so he is already in a proven better situation in many regards. I can see some hesitations with the 4* & 5* recruits. 3* and down better take the chances they get before someone else does and they end up at a non-P5 school.

Not sure that Hutch threw the ball much. Khalil was their top wr.

452 total yards (27 receptions)
37.2 per game.
16.7 per catch (just 2.3 cathes per game)
5 tds
Had a long of 73 yards

He also had 35 carries for 314 yards, 4 tds and had a long of 72 yards.

With those two long runs I’d assume he has some speed.

He looks similar in size to Chabastin Taylor. Our QBs are going to have some nice-sized targets to throw to next year.

Welcome Khalil!

Louisville hires Scott Satterfield from Appalachian State and within a few days, he has already offered McClain as well.

Just perusing other sites for information about our coaching search, I saw where we picked up a new commit tonight. His name is Khalid Duke out of Georgia. He is 6'4, 220 lbs. and can play either WR or LB.

Welcome Khalid!

Would be very nice to have a wr of that size, but if he turns out to be a LB then great size their top.
