Congrats Linkon Cure, wise choice!! I'm sure with KSU's Coaching Staff that they'll probably try and reshirt him. But if he's as talented as advertised, then he'll be tough to keep off the field.
A redshirt means he likely won’t play with AJ.
Why's that? in Professional NFL Football a college player has to be three seasons in college, post-high school to be eligible for the NFL Draft. Last year, Avery was a true freshman; leaving him with two additional years of college football before he's drafted.
No worries, Cure seems Uber-talented and can probably play the slot in addition to TE. I don't think the coaches can keep him from playing if he's better than the starters projected for next season. That was one mistake Coach Snyder made during his 1.0 tenure- not playing Darren Sproles earlier in his freshman season; when he was clearly the best RB on the team by far, in the 2002 season I believe.

I’m not a betting man but if I was forced to make a bet on whether he plays as a frosh I’d bet he does. It’s kind of the same as it was with Avery, an uber talented player. I believe it was wild who was agreeing with me after Avery signed that he was likely going to see the field because we’d both seen him and he’s just that good. But many wanted to believe he’s a frosh and so he can’t. And I think more to the point was that he was a KSU frosh and we just don’t have freshmen that are that good to play their first year. Not like a Ohio St, Bama, Clemson, Texas. But we are getting some of those types of dudes now. Cure is already a pretty well put together kid at 6’5” and around 210. He’s likely going to be 235-240 starting frosh year as a Cat. And he will come in having speed and athleticism, two things you can’t coach. Oakley better really be working on his craft because Cure is coming to play not sit.

AJ needs to take a massive leap (and I mean massive) if he thinks he's going to the NFL after 3 seasons. He's not a protype NFL QB and we've seen only a snippet of what he can do throwing the ball. He's never thrown into super tight windows or shown he can make all the throws, we don't know how strong the arm really is, and he won't be a full on running threat in the NFL. Could he turn into a Lamar Jackson type player? Sure. But he needs to take massive leaps to make that connection. And right now, kids can make millions playing college football. I'm just not seeing the NFL after being a Jr. Could he make it? Sure, I hope he does. It's just light years away at this point. I don't understand why everyone is assuming he's a lock to get drafted as a JR. SMH
If I'm laying down bets, I'm taking the over on if and when he goes the NFL.

Linkon is going to have a really difficult decision when it comes to whether to be a mid-year enrollee? He told Ryan Wallace that he told his teammates after they lost the state hoops title game that he was going to run it back next year and he wants to break some state level records in the hurdles, but when push comes to shove, if he really wants to be around 240 next August and he really wants to have a significant role in 2025, being in town in January would be a huge benefit.
This is just another reason why Coach Kleiman is right when he advocates for getting rid of spring ball and adding an OTA style system in June. That way you are not coaching kids in April and then letting them hit the portal in May. Also, this would help kids that would actually really like to finish their high school stuff, they would still get to be a part of the OTA workouts in June.
Going to be some serious competition for playing time in that TE room in 2025. Oakley will be established at that point and I doubt guys like Loftin, Anciaux and Metzger all have some talents and will be wanting time as well. But I could also see Cure used a little differently, especially in a bigger receiver type role. Lots of talent in that room.

I could see using 2 guys from that room at the same time quite a bit. Klieman has had them fill a hybrid TE/FB role. Would create a lot of options. I have no idea how good of a blocker Cure will be as a freshman.
