I agree, tmcats. Considering our history of developing players, if our recruiting classes can be in top-4 in the new Big12 year in and year out, then i think we should be in position to compete for big12 championship every year.
tmcats wrote: ↑December 23rd, 2022, 12:14 pmas i've written before, if k-state has a top 30 class, just divide that number in half for development thereafter to get the true number, i.e. top 15.
examples:
walk-on austin moore
2* cooper beebe
walk-on phillip brooks
3* deuce vaughn
2* felix anudike-uzomah
3* will howard
rankings are more than a little questionable as performance indicators at k-state.

i love austin moore. he's so k-state in background, development, performance, temperament and a kansan. by far, the most improved defensive player this year, at least to my eye.

Yes current on3 ranking of Big12 2023 recruiting classes. Here are the data behind it. You need to select Big12 instead of All in the 3rd filtering field.

What is this based on or for? Expansion candidates for another conference? Total athletics programs? Can't be based on football? Just curious.

It's the NIL for Texass and the Gooners that caught my eye. $275,000 for TX; $94,000 for Gooners.

The recruiting class this year is special as evaluated by homers like myself and even highly ranked by some outsiders.
Because of all the post regular season excitement I did not take the time to look as close at some of the recruits as I normally would.
Asa Newsom is a player that really jumps out to me as representing a sea change in KSU's recruiting success. Here is a youngster that LHCBS and staff would never have been able to land. Some of this information is not in the KSU bio so might be new to some of you as it was to me. The kid actually prioritized educational opportunities near the top of his selection criteria. Had offers from at least three Big Ten schools and visited two. He had an offer from STANFORD and also went on an official visit to Palo Alto. Don't get me wrong here I'm a KSU grad die hard fan and love the school but I would not blame anyone for taking an offer from Stanford over KSU.
The staff has been on him for over 2 years , they extended an offer after he attended a camp two summers ago. How many times have we beat out Stanford for any recruit in any sport in our history. Damn few in my historical recollection. I've no crystal ball to tell me how it will pan out for Asa as a football player for us but in the past we would never have had a chance to find out. Avery Johnson is for certain the most important recruit to our future but Asa might be a close second.

SIAP, but I saw where Ky Thomas is now in the transfer portal. He entered just a day after Deuce announced his intention to go pro. Hmm.
