We get very little pass rush. One of our LBs is easily fooled and frequently exploited and we have a young Safety that seems to be kind of learning on the fly and is slowly getting better, and a depth issue at Nickelback. Outside of that, we've got two very good CBs, a good S in Adams, a decent MLB in Tanking that has improved and one of the best NT we've ever had at KSU.

Our coaching philosophy of bend but don't break is okay. It's keeping us in games, but I can't understand some of the personnel decisions.

The weakest link is the LBs which include the DEs. No DB unit can cover a WR when you give the opposing QB a lot of time. I would say K-State could consider some form of the 3-8 that Iowa State is using, but OU tried it in the first half against TTU. They were forced to abandon that scheme in the 2nd half.

K-State cannot get in a shoot out with TTU. The offense will have to slow this game down to a snail's pace.

Pass rush (or lack of) is irrelevant when the CBs play 7-10 yards off LOS. You could even blitz a LB and have him not even get picked up at all, and the QB still get the ball away to a WR in space. Nothing happens until the CBs play closer to the LOS. Everything else is moot.

Because we have 2 slow, DivII LBs starting. Tanking is good on runs up the gut, but that is it. Kirby wouldn't see the field on any other p5 school in the country. Our front 4 generate very little pass rush. Honestly, our secondary is pretty good when Durham and Newlan aren't out there. But, our coaches don't put them in a position to defend the short pass and our front 7 don't put them in position to defend the deep ball.

Linebackers too slow or out of position. ZERO pass rush. Playing soft all the time is too predictable.

With spread offenses, it requires LBs to have to cover in space and I'm not sold we have the talent/speed/ability to do that with this offense. I would almost rather prefer a "bigger" safety come in as a LB to help cover if the LBs can't.

Because the coaching sucks.

Plain and simple.

Across the board.

Up and down.

End of story.

Stan Weber verified. Just said on KK's show that there is no passrush.

Well, Stan might want to check the box score because we logged 4 sacks in the game which is the most we've gotten in any game this year against any opponent, including the 2 patsies we started out with. It's also the same amount of sacks that TCU had against KU. Lastly, as been noted multiple times over, there is no point in getting a pass rush when the CBs play 7-10 yards off the LOS. It all starts with proper alignment. Say a DLman does get pressure in a pass rush, when there is a 10 yard cushion for the WRs, the QB can throw to a hot route without consequence. Also, why try and get a pass rush when the QB throws the ball in <2 seconds because there is no coverage underneath?

Seems like Stan is either uneducated (doubtful) or pandering (likely). Either way, he's wrong on this one. The stats don't lie.
