Our town - about the same size as MHK - has a fine local newspaper: print edition twice a week, and online by 5:00 a.m. every day. I subscribe because local journalism matters, offers a diversity of opinions, and can often bring local officials to be held accountable, etc. A good example is the illegal raid on the Marion County Record newspaper last month . . .

I haven't had an actual newspaper delivered since around '97 or '98. I might if I lived in a smaller community that had relevant information. The big companies bought out many of the smaller papers, local coverage not what it used to be. However getting the news online does save alot trees. I used to deliver newspapers 50 years ago, it was alot of work on Sundays when all the Ads were inside. Some people still get the papers just for the coupons.

My weekly county newspaper the Jetmore Republican starting in 2025 is going to have online subscriptions only.
The only printed issues are the ones to sell at the local convenience store

good analogies except i still buy stamps and certainly write checks. up in minnesota, it's like the 60s all over again.
We (my wife and I) still buy stamps and write checks and we still have a landline. The latter mostly so I don't have to give out my cell # to third parties or when ordering something online....I use the landline number instead. We only pay $9.99/mo for the landline, so it's worth it.
Regarding the original question, we don't subscribe to any daily newspapers, but we do still receive our "weekly" home town newspaper (from back in KS). I also have an annual subscription that provides an actual weekly "newspaper" plus continuously updated online content.
