I hope as many of you have said Klanderman goes man with maybe a plus for hunter in 2 weeks. The defense starts so damn slow every game. Once 42pts and solid lead most starters need to be out. No idea why Avery was in there for at least 1 series maybe 2 after they were at 42. Uso was as well and that's what can happen. Hopefully he's alright.
Nice bounce back win. Focus on Buffs and get over the hump on bye weeks.
If we have players that are talented enough to play quality man coverage as well as they did on Saturday (the improvement in secondary play once they primarily went man is a testament as to how good they can be in coverage), then you have players talented enough to play well in zone coverage. The bottom line is, we have the talent in the secondary. Our issues early on Saturday were not talent related, it was a coordinator problem. Our secondary zone scheme is the problem. It is fixable, even for zone coverage. I don't trust Klanderman to figure it out on his own. Maybe Klieman will help him out in the bye week, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

Rest assured, we will start out playing zone coverage going into CU - which I think is absurd. But it will happen. That's how our staff does it. CU has nice talent on offense and if we give them lots of cushion, they will march down the field and put up points. This will be our second toughest QB/WR duo we will face this season behind the Zona QB/WR duo. CU has a better running back though, so we had better have our crap together in this game. I know exactly what I would do.

I think we will move the ball and put up points on CU. I think this will be a high scoring game - if we come in prepared to play and NOT flat like a typical bye week Klieman team effort.

If we don't come in with our crap together and we proceed to lay an egg offensively, this one is going to be another BYU cluster$%^&, possibly worse because CU can put up points. We need to move the ball and score points, then come in playing a tighter coverage man under defense with 2 deep safety look. I don't trust Klanderman to fix our zone coverage issues in the next 2 weeks. Hope he proves me wrong.

dan mullen has some nice things to say about sunshine this morning on college sports radio - xm. said his passing game improves, he's going to incredible. pointed to the jayce touchdown as an example of why avery isn't there yet. that was an easy throw he made a hard catch. i read the above comments and wonder who is correct, easy as mullen says or difficult because it was thrown before jayce was open? whatever, nice to hear johnson's name on a national program. rick neuheisel brought his name up during the mullen segment.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State sophomore quarterback Avery Johnson was honored for his play in the Wildcats' 42-20 victory over No. 20 Oklahoma State by being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

---

In addition to the Big 12 weekly honor, Johnson was also named a Manning Award Star of the Week and to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 List earlier on Monday.

It looked to me like Avery threw the ball before Jayce was open. I do agree, though, that even though Avery's passing game is improving, he still tends to throw a bit high and hard on some of his shorter passes. Some of that could be nerves and adrenaline. Once he gains more experience, he will be able to put more touch on his passes.

Sure is funny to come back here after the game and read through all of these posts and read posts from people who I truly believe think they are better football coaches than the guys at KSU. Let's be clear, Joe Klanderman is an outstanding D coordinator, lets not believe anyone who says otherwise. He does things early in games to bait people into certain things, then changes things up as the game goes along. Our defense completely stoned OSU after the first few possessions, which is normal. Spagnuelo does the exact same things. The Chiefs defense always seems to suck early in games and then badabing, things get shut down as the games go along.

Perhaps you're right Gor, no idea. He just seems to take a while to figure it out, usually half which to me is too long. They gave up 490 yds Saturday, I don't consider that good. I get some was probably late when game was decided but still pretty porous against what I wouldn't say is an offensive juggernaut. They'll face much better offenses coming up. I don't profess to be a coach or anything, just the 2 cents from a guy that warmed the bench for a couple years of high school football ions ago. But also one who has logged thousands of hours watching college football.

You love Klanderman so much, you can have him. He's average at best. Judging by the fact that no one has ever come after him should tell ya something. The defense played better after many people screaming to switch to man coverage. At that point, the defense was more effective. Of note, Klanderman didn't make that change until we were ahead two scores. It could be argued that our offense significantly helped the defense out in this game. But you want Klanderman, you can have him. Is he the worst? No. Is he the best? No. He's average.

You should come around on game day and add you deep football insight.
