big 12 games ...

Post by tmcats » September 15th, 2024, 12:01 pm

1. #16 k-state's 31-7 win over #20 uofa has talking heads turning from utes to cats;
2. tcu loses a heartbreaker to ucf in cowtown 35-34 - not sure what to make of either;
3. ku goes down again, this time to unlv 23-20 as nesters howl loudly to can oc jeff grimes - losing kotelnicki to penn state was huge;
4. wvu slips up at the end in pittsburgh 38-34 - host j'hawks next in what will be an interesting turnaround game;
5. asu beat texas state in texas - the desert devils are the league's surprise team to this point in time;
6. #12 uu comes out on top without rising at utah state 38-21;
7. next up though is stillwater and the cookin' #13 pokes who leveled tulsa 45-10;
8. baylor had a get right win over air force 31-3 - remarkable only for the margin, methinks;
9. cincy went to miami of ohio and got a good win 27-16 in a game many picked the bearcats to lose;
10. the rest of the league enjoyed creampuffs.

The BYU vs Wyoming Box Score

We should be very very concerned about going into Provo for a late game. Wyoming (0-3) rushed 33 times for only 77 yards. BYU threw for over 300 yards.

away games are always tough. altitude. crowd. played when we're normally asleep.

k-state should blow the doors off the cougs though. much like friday's game. 'cept byu doesn't have a qb anywhere near uofa's dude.

Good point regarding the altitude. Combined with the travel and late night the team could be affected. Is there anything we can do to prepare other than get a lot of sleep and drink a lot of water?

uh guys, they are kids. Unlike us they can stay up past 11:30… but yes take one game at a time. 0-0 let’s go 1-0 in Provo

I wonder if the team will have some night practices this week to help get ready for the late game. The altitude and hostile environment will be challenges, but BYU seems to be playing well so they will be the biggest challenge. We will need to come ready to play from the get-go.

In 2024 I do not know the influence of the 25/26 year old students that just got back from Mission. BYU has historically had mature bodies that might not be premiere athletes, but they play mistake free, smart football.

This has ALL the makings of a trap game.

I am very concerned about Saturday's game in Provo. As others have said, BYU has played above expectations and should have an extra bounce in their step after trouncing former MWC rival Wyoming.

This is a trip I have to make one year; just a stunning setting with the Wasatch Mountains serving as a backdrop.

I heard Stan say in radio post-game that more and more teams, including K-State, practice in the morning now. He also wondered how the staff will handle practice time(s) as it relates to the late kick against BYU.
