Some great games early on for sure - can't wait for the start of CFB!tmcats wrote: ↑August 5th, 2024, 1:44 pmsome good first week games that will impact the following week's polls:
#9 penn state @ wvu - here's a statement game - andy kotelnicki gets his first play for the lions
#14 clemson @ #1 uga - no bigger game - both conference favorites
the jacks @ #18 oSu - why anyone would schedule a back-to-back fcs national champion is beyond me
#19 miami @ florida - intrastate rivals get it on - florida has the season's toughest schedule and a hot seat coach
ut martin @ #17 k-state - the skyhawks (you didn't know, did you?) are a 37.5 point dog at this writing
#7 nd @ #20 aTm - ck getting his first shot at sec football v. a talented irish outfit - what an opener for the new aggie coaches and fans
#12 lsu @ #23 usc - can't help wonder if lincoln is still in the driver's seat or hanging on the door handle
polls ...

Interesting posts, tmcats...... I think the wildcats this year will go 10-2, maybe 11-1 and win the conference. The only game I am really worried about is Arizona..... I also am going to have a vested interest in Ohio State, because of WH, and North Carolina State....don't ask me why, I just like them.

They are very similar to us, mission and culture-wise. Who knows? With the way things are trending in conference realignment, we may be conference mates with them one day.privyet wrote: ↑August 13th, 2024, 10:04 amInteresting posts, tmcats...... I've been a fan of NC State ever since Jim Valvano led his 1983 Wolfpack team to the NCAA Title. Oh, that was way back in the day I was in grade school staying up late, without permission to watch the Pack come back time after time through the whole Dance; stealing the title from the invincible Phi Slama Jama Houston Cougars. I've been a fan of NC State ever since our two best friends at OSU were from NC State. He was getting a veterinarian degree. They are still friends living in Banner Elk, NC.

March Madness 83. I was a contract programmer and the client site had a blind draw of teams. No brackets, no points, just pay your ten bucks and draw a team. If the team was lousy you weren’t going to win. My draw was some crummy team. A girl I worked with who knew little about BB came back with her draw and it was NC State. She asked if it was a good team and I said no. Boy was I wrong!
So somebody who knew next to nothing about college BB won the pot. But it was fun following NC State.
I’m sure they get tired of being looked down on from Duke and UNC.

Yes, you never hear anything negative about their program, and they are similar to us in many ways... Not the highest rated players but very competitive and well coached... their fanbase, just like us and Nebraska are great folks who generally are not obnoxious. Would just love to see them whip Tennessee in the 2nd week. Tennessee has one of the most unlikable and arrogant fanbases in CFB.stlcatfan wrote: ↑August 13th, 2024, 12:23 pmThey are very similar to us, mission and culture-wise. Who knows? I hear that is "gods country" out there..... stunningly beautiful and serene.... The one thing I know about Banner Elk is it is close to Appalachian State, and being a total CFB junkie to the core, I've watched a few games on tv from there.... Boy, what beauty surrounds that stadium.ToledoCat#3 wrote: ↑August 13th, 2024, 3:47 pmI've been a fan of NC State ever since our two best friends at OSU were from NC State. Jet, I've been on the Appy State Campus. The daughter of a good friend just graduated from there.
Yep, that's pretty country .. except in winter -- unless you like skiing. The tourist area around Grandfather Mountain is interesting, too -- but pricey.

Just a question, folks...... Do you think WH has a chance to having a quasi "Joe Burrow" season with all the tools at his disposal.... I don't think it will be as good, by any means, but really, really good.
