some good first week games that will impact the following week's polls:

#9 penn state @ wvu - here's a statement game - andy kotelnicki gets his first play for the lions
#14 clemson @ #1 uga - no bigger game - both conference favorites
the jacks @ #18 oSu - why anyone would schedule a back-to-back fcs national champion is beyond me
#19 miami @ florida - intrastate rivals get it on - florida has the season's toughest schedule and a hot seat coach
ut martin @ #17 k-state - the skyhawks (you didn't know, did you?) are a 37.5 point dog at this writing
#7 nd @ #20 aTm - ck getting his first shot at sec football v. a talented irish outfit - what an opener for the new aggie coaches and fans
#12 lsu @ #23 usc - can't help wonder if lincoln is still in the driver's seat or hanging on the door handle

That nd vs atm is Klein’s new place of employment vs where he could have been coaching this year, supposedly.

It doesn't really matter about these way-too-early polls. The Cats just need to focus on game #1, and move on to the next opponent after that game is complete.

K-State can't really afford to overlook any team on the schedule, especially UT Martin. The Skyhawks are an up and coming FCS football team. They won a bunch of games the last two seasons, and only got blown out by one team last year: Georgia, 48-7. KSU can't afford to pull a Tulane for this game. The Cats have to bring it from the first whistle to the last one.

i will only say that tulane (12-2) was damn good that year, beat ucf for the conference championship, beat usc in the cotton bowl, and finished #9 in the country, a place k-state hasn't finished since 2002, two decades past.

Hopefully our young players are not thinking they are hot crap by buying into the hype.
Everything I am reading about Avery is that he is more concerned about winning and doing whatever it takes to do so.
A lot will depend on how Coach Riley does at OC. Coach Riley is chomping at the bit to utilize Edwards and make life hell for opponents.
I think we will start 3-0.

UT Martin had a stud RB, he transferred to Oklahoma. UTM opened at Georgia last season and lost 48-7. I'd say the Cats roll em and smoke by a similar margin.
