I saw a YouTube video of the play that that put the 49ers in long distance in the OT that resulted in the decision to kick the field goal. Right guard helped the center instead of taking on Jones, which kept SF from the touchdown that could have extended the game or forced KC into going for two to stay out of sudden death with SF getting the ball first.
The people saying going 2nd is best overlook this aspect of overtime, if you get to the third possession, you can win and the other team can't match your score. You would have to score the TD and 2 points conversion to guarantee the other team they had no chance to win, but it's a possibility.
