Agree completely tm. Neither Kingsbury or Mike Leach (rest in peace) ever won a championship of any kind that I'm aware of. I've never understood the fascination with that type of offense. Makes for exciting video games, not Championship football.
K-State isn't built for that.

RIP, Coach Mike Leach aka "the pirate". Probably one of the most colorful coaches to ever grace the college football sidelines. It was always stressful facing those passing offenses, cause he went for it on fourth down more times than not.Catalum wrote: ↑December 9th, 2023, 7:04 amAgree completely tm. I am not opposed to hiring from the outside, but there is always a chance that coaches that are on staff that want that job leave when they don't get it. It is a pride thing more than anything else. Also, a new OC from the outside might demand hiring guys he knows and trusts, which means good coaches that are already on the team may lose their jobs. Coach Kleiman has a tough decision to make here. I do not envy him, because I think it is proven that continuity in the coaching staff is a good thing. Leipold's success at KU has been attributed to that as well.Upser67456 wrote: ↑December 8th, 2023, 1:15 pmI don't post or reply he hardly at all on this site, but I honestly hope we hire from outside. As has been said, every name mentioned seems to have ties . There is nothing wrong with looking outside the program. The climb in talent and national notarity the last couple of years should give HCCK several quality options for the OC position. Hiring Riley would seem as step back considering he has no real experience as OC. I would be disappointed if that were the case

So promote Riley. Just please hire a good QB coach; one that can develop a solid QB room. Don’t be naive enough to think Avery will be injury free for the next three years. We need a stable. I have always believed good coaching is obviously very important, but it starts with talent.

Probably in the minority, but I was never impressed with the progression of our QBs under Klein. Maybe it was the scheme but they seemed to be behind the curveTexasCat wrote: ↑December 9th, 2023, 4:08 pmSo promote Riley. Just please hire a good QB coach; one that can develop a solid QB room. Huh?? Helped turn Skylar into a NFL QB and made Howard into a Big 12 champion.Upser67456 wrote: ↑December 9th, 2023, 9:34 pmProbably in the minority, but I was never impressed with the progression of our QBs under Klein. I do have a 'shade' of skepticism that will persist until the final portal window closes; Caleb Williams stayed with OU through the bowl and then entered the January Portal to USC. He was not content with some changes. Let's don't be so naive to think, that the possibility that AJ isn't satisfied with the new OC/QB coach, makes him look much harder at joining one that he is completely connected to!
