I defended Currie in the Frank Martin debacle but am very glad we now have Gene Taylor. He seems to be doing an outstanding job on all fronts.
I don't know about all the fronts, but at least the money making fronts. We have the worst womens basketball and soccer coaches in the league, but yes Klieman and Tang appear to be homeruns.

Hold up, yes, Mittie is not awesome, but the women's team won a game in the NCAA tourney last year and had the core returning this year? He did not hire Mittie, so when you say "I don't know about all fronts," what exactly did you want him to do with women's basketball before now?? Keep in mind, it is a non-revenue sport and the prospects for this season were huge before Lee's injury. I can't find any blame for Taylor on the women's basketball side at this point. Now, after the season, maybe so, but not now.

I also am not sure what is legitimate expectations for women's soccer in the first few years??

I'm not faulting Taylor for those 2 programs because he didn't hire them. But soccer is in its 7th year now and we are still the bottom feeder of the conference. At what point does "new" program no longer become an excuse? A guy whose highest peak was coaching at NAIA Kansas Wesleyan should not have been the choice to build a D1 soccer team from scratch. There was much better experience out there.

As for Mittie. Taylor didn't hire him, but he did give him a contract extension in July that pays him nearly $3 million for the next 4 years. He has been riding Lee's coat tails for 5 years and without her.......well you see what a great coach he is. The extension shouldn't have happened and if he isnt fired early in the life-at-Lee era,, then I will really start questioning Taylor's commitment to the non revenue sports. I get that they aren't the money makers, but we should at least be competitive. Mittie should pay Yoki half his salary, because without her he'd be back in the MWC

This is the one that I do not understand. Not just from the money and W/L record, but Coach Mittie has the worst APR program at KSU and he brings nothing but apathy for the WBB Program

Either one would have been an upgrade over Mittie.
