1. Big 12 is still better positioned than PAC as it is assumed that both FOX and ESPN is going to bid for us whereas ESPN is the sole bidder for PAC rights still now. (FOX does have BIG but not much else).
2. If you listened carefully with what ND AD said about being independent and joining a conference (particularly wrt Olympic sports), it sounded a lot like ND is trying to gauge water instead of a firm commitment to stay independent. It is to be seen whether NBC agrees to $75 mil per year deal (no words on that yet). If ND decides to join BIG, that will be the end of PAC.

I’m not sure I agree with any of that, but hopefully I’m wrong. I mean, fox passed on the big 12 the last round of negotiations and that was before the defections.rajstat wrote: ↑August 10th, 2022, 6:36 pm1. I don't think the Big Ten is done expanding, despite what some are saying. If the goal is to consolidate the top brands into the Big Ten and SEC, there are too many strong brands still out there. I know the top ACC schools aren't available right now, but Oregon, Washington, and Stanford are ripe for the picking, regardless of what ND decides. Once that happens, the PAC is dead.rajstat wrote: ↑August 10th, 2022, 6:36 pm1. Yes. BIG definitely needs at least one/two more schools from PAC for the night slot. However, I will argue that ACC might benefit from this (as they are also with ESPN and ESPN would like to keep the ACC brands in their control). It kind of looks like ESPN controls the South-East (with SEC, ACC, AAC and Sun-Belt) while Fox/NBC/CBS aims for the rest of the USA.
It sounds like the big has a media deal with FOX doing the noon game, CBS having the late afternoon game, and NBC showing the night game. It’s going to be interesting how all of this shakes out for us.

Why Cal over Stanford, Oregon, and Washington?
Are you just speculating? Or is something you have seen or heard?

Interesting. It would make sense to invite other PAC schools to the Big Ten so that USC and UCLA weren't on a West Coast island. That is going to be a nightmare for their non-revenue sports teams, unless the Big Ten adds other PAC schools.
I'm just surprised that Cal (and not Stanford) is the rumored school.

I have heard that ND is really pushing Stanford, so i would bet it is both Stanford and Cal, and Notre Dame a bit later.
