Available QB Transfers from Portal
Simply we have to go after more quarter backs going into the off season. Anyone done any homework on the portal options yet?
Jaden Casey was in the portal and was a player we recruited and offered out of HS. There's one report saying he is transferring to Portland State, but no official confirmation.
We also recruited and offered 4* Chubba Purdy (Brock's little brother) out of high school. He entered the transfer portal in early November. 4* player, dual threat.
Anybody got any other targets?

Jacob Zeno had a KState offer but seems unlikely.
There should be a good number of grad guys which would be great too.
The situation is so bad at QB here bc we need a 2022 starter AND a starter for the future. Now that can be one in the same potentially but I think a grad transfer + sophomore level transfer is the way to go.

Outside of having a complete moron for an OC, I would think we would have a lot to offer some guys looking for a new home, especially early playing time (or a shot at it).
All the more important to get a new OC as soon as possible.

The season isn’t even over for most teams. The list of QBs in the portal is only going to grow significantly. There will be plenty of guys who are upgrades over Howard. Once the bowl game is over, the staff needs to stay very busy recruiting the portal.

Syracuse QB Devito would be a grad level guy that can step in immediately. He was replaced after struggling in his comeback from injuries, but 247 did mention that Syracuse was using a more run heavy offense. Not sure if seeing something similar here would scare him off or he just wants to be assured he’d be the starter.

Most of these kids going into the portal are entering the portal with a plan of where they want to go. You have to be on them before they enter (somehow, someway). We need to be proactive and not wait until the season is over. If we aren't putting feelers out there right now, its a major mistake. Like it or not, this is what the college football environment is. The chance to change it has sailed. Not saying I like it, just saying that's reality. Gotta be all over people early and often.
Our biggest glaring challenge is, how do you recruit a highly talented transfer player with a complete fool for an OC?

There still is a lot to offer a QB at KSU even with Messingham as OC. Starting QB for a Big12 team, for starters. Great facilities, winning program, playing with one of the best RBs in the nation. If the topic of OC comes up, talk of some of the success Skylar had this year…and try to chalk up some of the shortcomings to Howard. Not many P5 programs will be able to virtually guarantee a starting QB spot. That’s what most of these transfer QBs want, more than anything else.
But yea, a new OC would be a big selling point, no doubt.
