To me, this game is far more important than the bowl game. Another opportunity to show Texas recruits what were made of vs their home town Horns. There's about 30 kids from Texas on our roster that agree with me. I assure you this game means the world to them. Time for the Kansas kids to return the favor that their Texas teammates brought for the KU game.
Tons of 3 and 4 star Texas kids that can play some football, and they need to go somewhere. Why not KSTate? To me this game is more important to KSU than it is to Texas for a number of reasons, but to me, just beating Texas is important.

I think Texas' problems are with their seniors. If there is a culture/leadership issues there, that is where it lays. Upper classmen butting heads with a new coaching staff. A physical, punishing run game will be a huge thing, in my opinion. Those Texas guys looking forward for some time off will likely wilt.

Where, exactly, do you see that coming from our roster?

You assume that punishing ground game refers to the running backs. It comes with a physical offensive line, full backs, and tight ends. A big back helps, but wearing out the D Line and having scat backs back there is just as effective. A tired dline and Lbs find it harder to catch guys like Duece and Irving. And if Skylar can't play, we have a big QB that can run a bit.

Good points. In terms of a big back pounding away at the defense type of running game, Jacardia Wright and our FBs could help in that regard.

I like a balanced offensive attack, but I agree that we need to amp up the run game today. Throw just enough to keep their defense honest, unless we can exploit a weakness in their pass defense. Keep the chains moving (avoid the 3rd and long situations!) to limit UT's offense and give our defense more rest. If we can do that, I like our chances.

I like the thoughts here and overall I definitely agree. However, we must have a counter for 7-9 man boxes. In my mind, an easy adjustment is 4 wide 2x2 with just Howard and Deuce in shotgun. If it’s light box, run with Howard or Deuce. If they cheat a defender off the slot to the box, toss out the quick bubble.

Often OCs get in their own heads. They think they must scheme everything when in reality, simplifying is usually the way to go.

Obviously we are just fans but to also think that every OC is way smarter than every fan in every situation is silly too. I think many would be surprised if they sat in on installs and sessions. Typically, it’s not that complex.

Excited for the game!! Let’s gooooo

Just my opinion, a balanced offense is great, but if you are gashing the defense with the run game, you don't need to be balanced with a passing attack, especially an inconsistent passing attack. With Skylar when he is healthy, it is good most of the time. With Howard, we don't know what we are gonna get all the time.

Both programs are at a crossroads of sorts. For Texas, a loss could start a long downward spiral of mediocrity that they will not be able to get out of in the SEC. For us, a win has many positives. Mostly, in my opinion it validates a winning coach in a lower level can do well in this level. Also hopefully we can start recruiting for quality depth. As mentioned there are a lot of good players in Texas who would get a chance to play at K State and become real good under a good coach. Go Cats!

No, I didn't assume that. My question was based on the fact that "punishing running game" are not words that I think anyone would have used to describe this team.
