I always thought the US NEWS and World Report rankings were too much of a popularity contest between academics.

US News is primarily based on inputs not outputs.WildcatEngineer wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2021, 4:43 pmhttps://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/ka ... rsity-1928

If I understand USNWR ranking system correctly a significant portion of it are Deans and Professors rank other schools, similar to a Coach's poll. I do not believe they are going out the Human Resource people of the Fortune 500 and get their input.Hypeman wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2021, 7:52 pmUS News is primarily based on inputs not outputs.WildcatEngineer wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2021, 4:43 pmhttps://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/ka ... rsity-1928

It is an element. I actually think that’s probably a positive for KSU. Here’s the factors:WildcatEngineer wrote: ↑October 24th, 2021, 10:22 amIf I understand USNWR ranking system correctly a significant portion of it are Deans and Professors rank other schools, similar to a Coach's poll. TM, the last two have been Engineers.
My forecast is we opt for a Veterinarian or Bio Science.
But what we need is a Dr Wefald clone to help in recruiting.

properly utilizing the nbaf advantage will be critical for the next president's success. a wefald clone would be fine if he brings along bob k.

That would be great. I've been anxious to see who we get. Have there been any rumors of who has applied? I can't really find anything at all on it. I've noticed a trend in higher ed where a lot of these presidential searches are more public, often with the top 3 or so candidates coming to campus and doing presentations for students and other stakeholders. It's kind of expected in higher ed that people interview at multiple universities each year, even if they aren't necessarily serious about leaving. I've known Dean's and Provost's that interview every year, and do so publicly so their University is fully aware of it. So I've been a little surprised that there hasn't been any indication of who the finalists are.

this has been a closed process. i understand at least one of the candidates was from a major university presidential chair.
