Listened to an ESPN show on the radio as I was going to work yesterday morning. He was EXCITED about the Pac12. Talk about forced excitement for a struggling football conference.tmcats wrote: ↑September 13th, 2021, 11:29 amyes, that too, jokko.
after what stanford did to usc saturday, i don't know what to think now. k-state that good? usc that bad? stanford completely unprepared? i guess that's why these early-season conclusions are so often faulty.
iowa state gets manhandled by iowa after escaping uni the week before. what the hell is going on in ames? texas, lol. oSu struggling. it could be a confounding year.

These are preseason games. Tune ups for conference season. Coaches take a lot of different approaches to them. I wouldn’t put stock in the outcomes or fan’s attendance or viewership at this point. Nobody tuned into our first game. But I bet they will when we play Texas and OU.spot2180 wrote: ↑September 13th, 2021, 12:43 pmListened to an ESPN show on the radio as I was going to work yesterday morning. One item to keep in mind - the network the game is on will almost always be the deciding factor in the ratings. That's to say that one of the primary networks (ABC, FOX, etc.) will almost always have higher rated games than a cable channel. And, of the cable channels, ESPN will typically have decent ratings, but the bottom absolutely falls out after that - whether it's ESPN2, ESPNU, FS1 or FS2 - the ratings for those channels are almost always very, very low (for a variety of factors).
The time of the game is almost never as important to high ratings than the channel. And, that's also true of the teams playing to an extent. You could have a top 25 matchup on FS1 and the ratings would likely pale in comparison to a ho-hum matchup of two non-top 25 teams on ABC/FOX, etc.
It's just the way it works...

Well it looks like the Nevada and Osu games will be on ESPN+ and I'm sure the Texas game will be on the LHN. Just beyond stupid at this point.

perhaps the fall-out from last season, transfers and one-more year of eligibility is having an early impact?tmcats wrote: ↑September 13th, 2021, 11:29 amyes, that too, jokko.

If you have to be persuaded, reminded, pressured, lied to, incentivized, coerced, bullied, socially shamed, guilt-tripped, threatened, punished and criminalized...you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interest

In a perfect world, everyone would choose hard work, morals and ethics over obscene money and fame. And everyone outside of Lowrents would be required to be a red blooded, card carrying Payhawk hater.
