Re: New 2022 Commit - Tobi Osunsanmi
It's not all just about measurables. I'm no scout, but there seems to be other things that could factor in here. Like how polished of a football player are they? Do they make the right reads? There is also a difference in the position they play and/or they are projected to play in college. Maybe also Tobi hasn't gotten as much visibility due to how his HS has done, how many camps he has gone to, etc. There is a reason why Tobi is listed as a project, but one with a ton of upside.

I agree with everything you say here Ajcat, but it just confuses me more as Tobi's team was a playoff team in 6A, lost a heartbreaker to Junction City in the quarterfinals I believe, yet Hays was 5-3 in a lesser classification with three P5 players, so in this case it doesn't seem to be team success. As far as position, what position is Kanak actually being recruited to play? I know he played RB at Hays, but I can't imagine he will play there in college. The coach I talked to who coached against him said they just ran jet sweeps with him and he would just run as fast as he could, no moves or anything, and they just strung him out and tackled for limited gains over and over again. He also said, as I have posted here before, Hays kicks off and the other team breaks the return. As soon as the returner gets in the clear, the kid with 10.3 speed that has Bama, etc offers just walks to the sideline, while the kid is still running down the field.
Again, recruiting just confuses me. I just can't see what Bama or all of those other teams saw other than "he is 6'2" 210 and ran a 10.3 100 meter dash. That is pretty much it as far as I can tell.

Jaren's recruiting started to pickup steam right after the standout Sharp performance... and it only grew from there. Maybe Tobi was at some of these camps(I have no idea), but if not, then it makes sense why he hasn't been recruited much until late.

It looks like what might have been a big factor in his decision was KSU's engineering school. Sounds like he has his priorities straight in focusing on school and using his football abilities to get a degree.

I think this kid is a steal for us. He seems really solid in all areas. To be after an engineering degree he must have ample gray matter which leads me to believe that he could surprise us in how quickly he sees the field. He seems pretty instinctive to me and given his size and speed and attraction to contact he should be able to help somewhere. I am thinking special teams this year. Also may be a good candidate for a punt block specialist. Next year he could be ready for a bigger role. With his speed and length he looks like a wide out candidate. Also appeared to play a lot of D-back in HS and could make a heck of a safety. Looks like a true diamond in the rough.
