Oklahoma Football Player Isaiah Thomas Arrested
By Pete Mundo June 13, 2021

The Oklahoma Sooners football program is dealing with another arrest. Following arrests of Trejan Bridges and Seth McGowan, Sooners edge defender Isaiah Thomas was arrested early on Sunday morning on petty larceny charges.

Thomas is one of the best defenders on OU’s team, as he led the Sooners with 13 tackles for loss and 8.5 quarterback sacks during the 2020 season. Also, he finished last season with 46 total pressures and 29 hurries, which were both second on the team to Nik Bonitto.

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office didn’t include any details about the petty larceny, but reported that Thomas was arrested at 2:08 a.m. and was booked at 2:59 a.m.

Here’s a look at his mug shot and the details.

Thomas was a second-team All-Big 12 Conference player in 2020, his first as a starter, and under defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, OU is poised to have one of its best defensive fronts in over a decade.

Depending on the outcome of this situation, it could drastically impact the expectations for the OU defense in 2021. As more details emerge, we will have them for you here at Heartland College Sports. Heartland

Kansas, celebrating 100 years of Memorial Stadium this year, will kick off Labor Day weekend in style by opening its 2021 season on Friday night, Sept. 3 against South Dakota at 7 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Sept. 4, but will now be moved up a day so Jayhawk fans can Pack the Booth and support the team as it kicks off the season.

The game against South Dakota will mark the first Friday night home opener for the Jayhawks since a 47-0 win over Washburn to open the 1944 season. It will also be televised on ESPN+.

Additionally, the team’s Week 2 game at Coastal Carolina is also being moved up a day to Friday, Sept. 10 and will be nationally televised on a linear ESPN network. The specific linear channel and time will be announced by ESPN later this month.

The only reason they'll be on an ESPN station is because they are playing last years ESPN Darlings. Should be another loss for all recruits to see on TV.

That's genius. Move it to a night where when they only draw 18,000 on opening night, they'll have a built in excuse for a lame turn out.. High school football games taking away fans. 😁

Will the high school season even be under way yet? At least when my step son played it always seem to start the Friday after Labor for the varsity anyway. The frosh and soph/frosh teams started on Labor Day. That stunk. We drew driving all way up to Salina in back to back years, one to play Salina central frosh and the next to play Salina south soph/frosh. Not a great way to end a Labor Day weekend. Drive over an hours and a half to a game. Sit in the heat with the sun in your face. And get home late to start a new week. But I do believe we won both years so at least we got to celebrate that.

Yes. Most schools around here start on 9/3.
